So How Are Things Looking?

Post#1 » by JordanL » Fri Jan 30, 2009 12:15 pm

I posted here a while back inquiring about a Nash to Portland trade and what everyone thought. I got a lukewarm response, but not overtly negative.

Have things changed by now? How are Phoenix fans feelign about perhaps getting some young prospects/picks?

Probably a lot more receptive this time around, but I still think that Nash is a bad fit for POR

Coaching was horrific last night, we'll trade you coaches, how about that?

we donßt need young prospects or picks - all we need is a defensive minded forward and a defensive minded guard. we got barbosa, dragic and lopez to give away.
and since you mentioned it, i was maybe the only guy supporting terry - give him aqay too.
we need a coach who don´t let the team foul bowen... **** it, how stupid.

Props to the great one

Things look exactly the same as they have since 05. Cant beat the Spurs. And if you cant beat the Spurs this decade in the West you're not getting to the Finals. Mikey's teams couldn't and Porter's certainly can't.

Definately would do a trade like that, a TRUE Suns fan would. The people saying otherwise are most likely just Nash fans.

we need length.
we need forwards.
we need athleticism.
we need to get rid of shaq.
we need to get rid of porter.
we need to get 2-3 long forwards who are athletic.

-- Nash is a great PG but best in an up-tempo system - PTL isn't ideal.
Nahs would love Portland though. What a great town.

I see only two options for this team.

1. Go for broke. Trade LB for a defensive wing player and/or trade Amare for a more balanced defensive/offensive big. Get in more hungry veteran role players. Get in a coach who's got some kind of fire/leadership and will sit players from the starters to the the bench for consistently blowing defensive rotations, making stupid plays and not hustling for rebounds/loose balls. One who will call out players for moping and whining about getting "their" touches and minutes. The Suns just mope after losses now. Maybe they'll play better if they are pissed off constantly instead cause it aint working now.

2. Start trading for the future. Shop around everyone.

This team now does not have the defensive talent, role players or team discipline to win even one playoff series even if they squeak in.

As much as no one here is going to admit that, Shaq needs to go. Give him to any suitors we have for athletic forwards, defensive minded gaurds, and picks. He NEEDS to go, no matter how well he's playing, its killing this team. Oh yeah, and PORTER NEEDS TO RESIGN.

overall i thinnk if we just did quick plays like last night against the spurs with nash and amare and also with barnes outside giving up the three to feed it to shaq we probably could be better but we do need to get some guards and a forward to put some defense. the one thing we need again is a new shooter. barnes is good but he isnt great at shooting the three.
theres no such thing as defense in phoenix.

I'd rather see a coaching change first before any more trades. Just like the Mavs last year -- they should've fired Avery & kept the team as it was. Instead, they panicked and traded for JKidd, and wound up firing Avery anyway. Same deal here. I don't think that there's any trade that will save Porter's job long-term, so just fire him instead of making the trade. Granted, if you come across a sweetheart deal, pull the trigger, but that's unlikely.

agreed. unless say whatever teams want to have lots of expiring cap space say the lebron sweepstakes time, i wouldnt mind trying to unload shaq for multiple players. but then again kerr has only made like one decent move out of the rest. Kerr, how to destroy a team in seven moves or less.
