Stephen A. Smith: Amare Wants Out

Post#1 » by The Diesel » Mon Feb 2, 2009 4:30 am

Hey guys,

Stephen A. Smith was on ESPN earlier today and he reported some interesting news about Shaq and Amare.

- He said Amare wants out and is very unhappy in Terry Porter's system. (I can't blame him)

- He said Shaq has been asking people close to him whether he's going to be traded. (He probably asked Stephen A. Smith because him and Shaq are good friends)

Your thoughts on this information?

I believe this information because Stephen A. is the one who wrote that article about a month ago which contained quotes from Amare saying he was frustrated and Stephen A. and Shaq are good friends.

This is going to be interesting, the Suns are going to be facing a decision. Fire Porter and keep Amar'e or trade Amar'e and have Porter remain the coach. That's interesting also about Shaq though.

IMO the whole situation with amare isn't new because his game right now speaks for itself. if we do trade amare it better be like a deal that sets us up for now and in the future because if we try to go out and get bosh then who knoes if he will even re-sign with us. all i hope for is porter gets fired.
theres no such thing as defense in phoenix.

Firing Porter will resolve everything. Damn I never thought I would ever miss DAntoni as much as I do now.

Oh yeah I forgot to tell you guys! I heard from another forum that Shaq is looking to get traded with Matt Barnes for Josh Howard, and Jerry Stackhouse... that means Amare can do his damage again. Only problem is our defense would be insanely atrocious. I wouldn't like that trade either.

I just hope Amare wants to stay and that he doesn't get traded.

Can we blame him? Who'd want to play next to an egotisical point guard that doesn't play defense.

Haha I can understand guys, Nash is innocent and everyone else is guilty right? It's all Amar'e, Porter's, Shaq's fault but Nash is innocent!

Maybe this will change your guy's attitude about him, probally not though...

That was just an example but I'm just saying alot of people here are making Nash out to be the victim.

How can people blame Amare for wanting to leave?

- He averaged 27 PPG in the 2004-2005 regular season

- He averaged 40 PPG against Duncan in the playoffs that year

- He was All-NBA First Team in the 2006-2007 season

- He averaged 29 PPG last year after the Shaq trade

Porter has turned him into a role player.

26 ppg in 04-05, 37 against Duncan(which was their plan, and he's not the same player as he was back then)

Why would we get rid of someone who's given so much, offensively anyway, to our franchise and to a guy we've invested so much into, emotionally and financially when seemingly the root of the problems lie in an inexperienced first-year coach who has had issues with communicating with our players and brought in a failed system?

I won't even begin to reply to Mary.

Brand? High injury risk but hey, if we had to make a trade, I'd like to see Brand here. At least he plays his heart out every game.
