A poster on another Phoenix Suns message board says a very reliable source close to Dan Majerle told him that Porter is VERY disliked by the assistant coaches and the players.

I heard a juicy little rumor this weekend, and this looks like the best place to display it.

Hello all, hope you're doing well. I'm as fine as can be, despite nursing a wicked hangover. And yes, I even hope those hating me with red hot passion well.

I have a source close to Dan Majerle, somebody who's nearly considered family in Thunder Dan's eyes. I'd rather not give away the source, just to say that I don't lie to people here, people who know me here should probably know me well enough to know I am honest to a fault at some times. But because revealing my source has even the slightest degree to bring some sort of harm or to reflect badly on this person, I prefer to take no chances and keep quiet on who they may be.

I tell you only that I trust this person to be telling the truth and that I'm telling you this only because I thought this was too good not to share, and this isn't the type of thing I'd want to discuss on Planet O. This is something ya'll can chew on or not. Basically, you can rip me a new one if you think I'm making this up too, but I can tell you in no uncertain terms that I'd lay my soul on the line to verify that I believe this to be an entirely truthful account.

The rumor is that Dan Majerle hates Terry Porter with a passion, and he's not alone. The entire coaching staff cannot stand Terry Porter. They all think he's doing a terrible job. And the team feels exactly the same way. Dan has told my source that everyone has given up on Terry Porter, with the exception of Kerr and Sarver.

It's time for Kerr to admit he screwed up and just fire Porter.

This is a rumor?

In a way, I was hoping for the Kings to win so that Kerr would have no choice but to get rid of this idiot.

I never knew that the coaching staff also disliked Porter. Gentry probably regrets staying instead of going to New York with Mike D.

The offense looked GREAT against the Kings, but we also saw progress earlier in the season only for Porter to go back to just calling plays for Shaq all the time.

If he hasn't learned his lesson, he must go RIGHT NOW.

If we see a return of "just pass the ball to Shaq all the time," Porter is truly a moron.

This win probably saved his job, unfortunately.

He's ruined this team.

If this is true then Kerr is a moron for keeping Porter, lets hope he grows a brain and does the right thing by firing Porter.

The problem is that Kerr and Porter are really good friends from their days as team-mates, so Kerr is probably reluctant to fire him.

P.S. I think the word "hated" is a exaggeration.

I want Eddie Johnson as head coach!

This is what Sarver said in today's article:

"We have a high-character coaching staff and high-character players, and I believe they'll get tired of losing and make the necessary changes to get us back on the winning track," Sarver said before Monday's game. "It's going to take the players to embrace each other and support each other and decide as a team they want to be winners."

I really don't know what it has to take for this moron and his yes man to know that Porter isn't the right coach. Maybe they're thinking it's too late to make any coaching change so might as well ride it out with Porter...I don't know. It's amazing how a GM is willing to trade players away to keep his coach happy. And the best part is that we aren't winning with the coach!

I also can't imagine that the assistants (all of them) would all be as dumb as Porter. Surely they know that his offense sucks, but Porter probably still doesn't recognize it.

Why else did they keep Gentry then? Kerr and Porter lied to the fans.

I also believe this rumor.

I'm hardly surprised by what's happened this season for a variety of reasons when I heard Porter was hired.

- His Milwaukee Bucks teams were HORRIBLE defensively and Kerr thought he would fix this defense when Hill and Raja (when he was still with the Suns) were the only good defenders? Raja ended up getting so frustrated that he eventually demanded a trade and I don't blame him.

- I knew the veterans wouldn't respect him when you consider his lack of success compared to D'Antoni. This team needed an established coach.

- The warning signs about the offense were there in the pre-season; during the outdoor pre-season game against the Nuggets, even Barkley pointed out that they were passing it to Shaq too much and that hasn't changed. All Porter does is call plays for him.

- Then, against the Spurs in the opener, Amare barely got the ball until the 4th quarter and I'm watching the game thinking, "This is the same guy who averaged 37 PPG against Duncan a few years ago...where are his touches?"

Unfortunately, I can't see Kerr firing his buddy. But Porter absolutely deserves to be fired when you consider the following:

- The complaining from several players about him; Raja, Nash, Dragic, Barnes, Amare.

- The lack of improved defense

- The "pass the ball to Shaq all the time" offense instead of playing up-tempo

- He hasn't developed any of the younger guys like we thought he would and he publicly criticized Lopez a few weeks ago, which I thought was pretty mean on his part.

Kerr and Porter turned out to be liars when they talked about what Porter would bring to this team.

Porter even comes off as a moron in his interviews and he IS a moron when it comes to coaching.

Bulls fan here...

It sucks to see what's happened to the team after the Marion trade.

They had a good thing going in Phoenix (Despite the failures in the playoffs) and Steve Kerr is MAINLY responsible for all of it.

D'Antoni...gone

Marion...gone

Bell/Diaw....gone

Might be drastic, but I'd fire Porter, trade Shaq and Hill and RUN again. I'm sure the fans would be happier, even if it does lessen your chances at a championship.

Hill can run and would retire before getting traded.

Shaq can assist in the running game (as it doesnt really use a center anyway) and probably doesnt want to be traded anyway.

Fans would definitely not be happier if either of those guys were traded.

not a suns fan, so i'm basing this off seven seconds or less. aren't the assistant coaches all d'antoni's guys (well, besides iavaroni)? makes sense that porter would be the odd one out as a replacement.

There is some significant drama in the FO right now. Kerr telling Porter how to do his job being the biggest thing.

Is that why D'Antoni left in the first place? Maybe Kerr needs to just coach the team since he's the one barking out all the orders.
