The official DON'T trade Amar'e thread!

I know some people classify me as a Steve Nash "hater" but I'm the first to admit even Amar'e has his faults he should be criticized for mainly his ego. Think about it though, every superstar has an ego otherwise they wouldn't be a superstar. Amar'e is 26, young, rich, famous and the Suns best player. Of course he is going to have an ego and make comments that may come across in a bad light.

Look at all his accomplishments, 95% of NBA players can't say they did what he did!

Awards/honors
NBA All-Star: 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009
All-NBA First Team: 2007
All-NBA Second Team: 2005, 2008
NBA All-Rookie First Team: 2003
NBA Rookie of the Year: 2003
NBA All-Star Rookie Challenge MVP: 2004

The guy is a top 10 player in the league, you don't just trade him away for 50 cents on the dollar. The only way you trade Amar'e is if you get a deal that has equal or greater value, trading him for below is crazy!

Yeah the Suns want to cut capspace but they could easily trade guys like Shaq, Nash or even Richardson because anyone of those can be replaced. In the end though Amar'e will probally end up being traded to the Bulls for some garbage like Noah, Thomas and Gooden and Kerr will try to convince the Suns fan base that they got the better end of the deal to help stop the riots across the city of Phoenix and the Suns will end up being a bigger joke than the Clippers if that happens.

i would rather keep amare and build around him too - in theory

the fact is though that amare has worn out his welcome and no matter how good his talents are, he has refused coaching from the best big man coaches in the game, he has alienated himself on this team and he is at the point where his bad is outweighing his good

I think we will never get fair value for a guy as good as him in a trade. I also think he will be so motivated by a trade, that like diaw, he will destroy teams in the months following any trade

but - if we get capspace, and use it well, then it could be like when we traded marbury in his prime, with penny, to get the space to sign nash

using amares cap space, could we sign another player who is a better fit than amare? time will tell

but until we know, ill always be sceptical about losing our most talented player

Except that he doesn't have game to back himself up.

How about a deal with
Arthur + Gay + Conley + a 1st + expiring for Amare + Barbosa

that's 3 of the future starting 5 right there. I mean if the right deal comes along, Why not? Keeping Amare wouldn't do you any good, if half of ur roster are made up of soon-to-be-retired veterans but not promising young players. What happen when Hill, Shaq, and Nash retires in 2 years ?? A roster features Amare / Lopez / Barbosa / Dragic doesn't look very promising to me. Especially with Kerr in charge of the front office, i just don't have any confidence in him to rebuild our franchise. On top of that, to field a good team takes time. I say, if we can somehow trade Amare for some good and cheap talents then go sign a Star in the 2010 FA, we will be competitive right away.

i disagree totally

so many people are making amare a scapegoat for this season

lets look at facts

fact - amare won rookie of the year despite being overlooked till the 9th pick due to questions about his mental state

fact - he said he would work on his jumpshot and is now one of the best big man shooters in the game

fact - he said he would make a successful comeback from microfracture surgery and became all NBA and an all star the next season

sure he has said things that didnt work out either, like his defense etc - BUT, amare has done enough to earn the respect of the benefit of the doubt that when he says he is working, that he really is

to come from where he has come from in life, you MUST have self belief and alot of it, god knows he wasnt getting it at home - i have a tonne of respect for amare, and i really dont like the way all this is going down.

at best he is a talent and a passion that is only matched by the most intense players in the NBA - but at worst (which is this season) he is a frustrating, apathetic, lifeless soul on the court

i would rather find a way to get the old amare back - but i believe the suns organization believes this is not possible - and surely, they have amore educated opinion than me?

I didn't forget how great he was for us before this season. Here's another fact: he pout and coast when things aren't going his way - that's when you see the true color of a guy. I'm not going to ignore how hard it is for him, and other players for that matter, to adjust to Porter's 'system', but you still have to play hard, give your effort and help your team as much as you can. Amare failed.

I also notice how uncharacteristic it is for him to take games off like he's been doing this season. It's been a tough season for everyone, but is he trying to be part of the solution of this team? All I've heard from him is he being the superstar, demanding more touches, and wanting to opt out. If he's a superstar and franchise player he claimed he is, he should try to carry his team through good time AND tough time. Nash has been adjusting, Hill is playing as hard, even Bell and Diaw gave their effort when they were still here. Heck, even LB was producing with his limited PT under that idiot.

That's why we should fire Porter first, not Amare.

It would be wiser to build a team around him than around Nash and Shaq. IMO, you deal STAT, you might as well send them all packing.

The complaints about his attitude are valid.... but attitudes are easier to adjust than talent level.

but this is also true

the fact is though that amare has worn out his welcome and no matter how good his talents are, he has refused coaching from the best big man coaches in the game, he has alienated himself on this team and he is at the point where his bad is outweighing his good

We'll see within a week or so.... and then be ready for a good serving of KERR-LAID

I'm all for keeping Amare and firing Porter, but this idea of "building around" Amare doesn't make any sense to me. You can't build around a guy who doesn't rebound, doesn't defend, doesn't lead on or off the court, can't play with his back to the basket, struggles in ISO situations.

The fact is that he's quit on the team, as evidenced by his complete lack of effort over the past month and a half. He's going to want 20 million dollars per year as an extension, and I defy anyone to tell me that he's actually worth that.

May be Stat isn't the greatest foundation to start a team around (wasn't it done once before ???) but there is more promise in that than making a couple of ancient warriors the cornerstones.

I guess that why I feel if we deal him, we might as well close the window for good and start all over.

So far, I haven't seen many offers that make us any better this yr, so what is the point ? Nothing will change that NASH will continue to get abused by the PGs, beginning the break down of our D. I am beginning to believe that is the root of our Probs. May be some of you BBall brains can enlighten me.

If we can pry B-Easy from Miami for STAT we need to take it and run. And run fast.

Beasley is a guy who if given the opportunity / 20 shots a game has the skill set to score 30 a night. He is more gifted offensively IMO then Melo. And he is also a better rebounder right now than Amare.

Beasley and Wade is not a good fit though as they both need to have the ball in their hands often on offense. STAT would complement Wade very well. Good trade for both teams IMO.

I believe that if we get Marion + Beasly, we might actually play better this season.
the point is, 2 horrible defenders in one line up is just too much, and if we put marion on the 4, we'll have a line up of 1 bad defender (nash), and the rest are good/ok.
it might be able to cover for nash's defensive liabilities.

We have separate threads for deals. I can't take anymore of these deal posts anymore, hahahahhaha.

STAT will unleash the black Jesus tonight against the pistons - All those trade talks are about him are going to motivate him beyond anything we have witnessed. He shouldn't even need the damn motivation in the first place but with a 3 game road trip he is gonna make Kerr really decide if he is going to pull the trigger. I believe if STAT is gone, and he does well where ever he might end up, hell get a ring before the suns do. Hell, if the cardinals can get to the big game before the suns can get to the finals, something must be wrong. Don't blame the payroll, #8 highest - GEL IT TOGETHER SUNS YOU STILL HAVE TIME.

I hope not. If he drags his feet then maybe Kerr won't find anyone to trade for him :D

Now Shaq I hope has a killer game and Joe will say, you know he might offer us more than A.I.

I really think were gonna see the floor spaced out pretty well tonight, I just have that gut feeling. C`mon guys, its the suns we cannot give up yet. They are trippin out way to fast. It's a NEW system, of course they know how to run n gun but our team has been spoiled by the Mike D ways. Easy practices, etc etc. Once you get in those type of routines, of course people are going to complain and not play to there potential. IT WILL CLICK. JUST BELIEVE.
