The official don't give up hope thread

OK, so after the loss to Miami and absolutely no help out of town (Dallas, Utah, Portland all with come-from-behind wins) things look really bad: 3 games back, 21 games to go and a tough schedule

I think there is still hope, but the difference can't drop below 3 games.
The key starts with surviving the rest of this road trip. There's a good chance Dallas loses at NO on Thursday, so if the Suns can somehow win in Houston on Friday, then they will be no worse than 3 games back.

Now of course, Dallas could win, the Suns could lose to both Houston and San Antonio, and this could be 5 games really quick.

But I say the rally starts now. Draw the line in the stand! It's not getting below 3 games

Every game from now on is a must win. If the Suns get behind 5 games it will be the first time ever I have seen Nash or Shaq not make the playoffs.

It's a rarity for sure. Shaq only missed the playoffs in his rookie season, and I think the Magic missed by one game that year. Nash only missed in his first two years with Dallas. Combined, I think they are 25 for 28 making the playoffs.

With 27 loses already there is no hope in the West. This team needs to add quickness to chase balls, a center who can shoot off the glass from 10 feet to keep the lane open for JRich, Amare and Stro. TD makes the Spurs good because he can post away from the basket and draw one or two defenders.

i still got hope. always. as long as they try everything.
i believe that if we had amare in our team right now, we would be scary for everyone.

As long a Nash is on the team and playing well, I will maintain hope.

But holy christ, we might MISS THE FRIGGIN PLAYOFFS this season :O

I have a more than just hope, I have belief!!!! Just think, once Stro gets going, he will actually make Nash better. He will give Nash back his bread and butter play which is the pick and roll. Nash having to play without somebody to run the pick and roll with is like telling shaq he is not allowed to dunk anymore but needs to only shoot hooks and short jumpers. Being able to run the pick & roll actually opens up a lot more for nash and the rest of our slashers. If they have to respect the P&R the defense will will be drawn over and we will be able to get to the basket even more with slashing to the rim. I really believe that a PF like Stro is what we are lacking to make this team really go. On the defensive side, Stro has been called a mix between Amare and Marion, and with his shot blocking ability people will not be getting to the rim as easily anymore. That should allow our guys to extend a little further out and cover the three point shooters rather than leaving them wide open so often like last nite...........

It's funny. I thought that a lot of the talk today would be about the death of the Suns' season, but most of the focus seems to be on Shaq's SVG tirade

hehehe unrealsunsfan checkin in with the mighty optimisim and taking the cake for the 'shades'

21 and counting....let this misery end peacefully, w/o play off embarassment. Nash will squawk and be released, saving 12 mill..... O'Neal will accept a buyout and save Robber Sarver another 10 mill... Kerr-plunk will reassemble a roster, perhaps with Gentry in mind. May be Stat, may be not... but I'd take 70 cent on the dollar just to start fresh Give me 2 draft picks and a lunchbucket-er for him and move on.

I am not giving up hope for.......... RELEASE and REBUILD (you see, i am optimistic)

Ahhhhh, as usual my friend the grim reaper ..............lol.........

Seriously though, Frank I can understand your frustration, I have the same frustration, but I refuse to EVER give up on my team, I'm not a quitter (no reference to you or anybody else, just me) I have always believed that you fight until the very end with your best effort. Until we are mathmatically eliminated, there is a chance, no matter how bleak the situation may look, there is a chance. As long as there is a chance, you have the opportunity in your hands to succeed, as do our suns. I find it hilarious when people run for the hills when the going gets hard, yes it's an uphill battle, but we don't run from the battle, we try and win it.........................

Dalls sked:

My optimistic guesses - 21 games 7-14
That's the best we could hope for and includes us beating them twice.
If we split the diff and say they go .500 over that period, 11-10 then we need to win at least 14 games ourselves.

Then it don't matter. I'll be all around in the dark - I'll be everywhere. Wherever you can look - wherever there's a fight, so hungry people can eat, I'll be there. Wherever there's a cop beatin' up a guy, I'll be there. I'll be in the way guys yell when they're mad. I'll be in the way kids laugh when they're hungry and they know supper's ready, and when the people are eatin' the stuff they raise and livin' in the houses they build - I'll be there, too.

Our sked: 21 games, and an optimistic 15 and 6. Much less than 15 wins and we're screwed.

It's about hope, the same hope that drove the Okie's from the dustbowl to California. In this case the dustbowl is US Airways Center, we're the Okie's and "California" is any bar where we can drink enough to forget what's happening.
