http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/ar ... -suns.html"We would've drafted him if he hadn't got drafted ahead of us," Gentry said of 2007, when Brooks went 26th after Phoenix traded its 24th pick and took Alando Tucker 29th.
This was interesting to find out anyway...He would have been a great backup for Steve Nash. Just the Suns luck though I guess. At least we got Alando Tucker sitting on the bench though, he's one of the best cheerleaders and waterboys you can find in the league

Who cares, brooks is a skinny twig.
im sure they would also have drafted kobe in 96 if he wasn't drafted 2 picks before they're pick.

Skinny twigs have been known to be very effective against this team.

I had the opportunity to watch brooks play @ the D-league last year for a few games and he's a stud and a skinny twig. He's is super quick. I'm not surprised he had a career game against us, everyone seems to have career days vs PHX.

They also drafted Nate Robinson and traded him to the Knicks. In 2003 they drafted Amare with the 9th pick and then with the 24th pick they got Casey Jacobson right before Tayshuan Prince...

F Nate Robinson. I hate him and was happier with KT...and the 2x draft picks it took for us to trade him away...

Gawd, if we could shred salary we could actually grab him from the Bucks over the summer.

Every mediocre point guard seems to have a career game against the suns. Two factors:
(1) Steve Nash's defense.
(2) Shaq's pick-n-roll defense.
If you watched the game against the Rockets, you might have noticed that with the game in the balance, Rick Adelman called for a high-PNR involving Brooks and Yao, being guarded by Nash and Shaq. Result = layup for Brooks, game over.
If we look at the number of big games recorded by point guards in the past two seasons, I bet that a disproportionate number of them have come against the Suns. Because Shaq and Nash are the heart and soul of the Sun's, they're going to be on the Court most of the game.
Am I blaming Nash and Shaq -- no way. We know their limitations. Gentry has to game-plan and expect moves like that from opposing coaches, and compensate.

I'm not as pissed that we would have drafted Brooks as I am that we DID draft Deng...

Thats the thing about the draft, you really do not know how good players really are going to be. You never know if these guys would have got a chance with MD as the coach anyways. Every team misses on draft prospects. I remember the when we drafted Casey, I was excited because I knew how good he was in college. But the NBA game was too much for him I think. When thunder dan was drafted, people hated the pick and look how it turned out for us? You have to be lucky, the right opportunity and have a hell of a scout team which I am not sure the suns do anymore.
