Should we want to be in the playoffs?

I think even the most optimistic Suns fan doesn't see this team managing to beat the Lakers this year. So are we better off in the lottery? Or did we give away all our picks? :(

Which is more horrible: Missing the playoffs for just the third time in 20 years, or losing to the Lakers in the playoffs?

Missing the playoffs. We can put up a good fight against the Lakers, and this draft is weak as heck anyways. Not making the playoffs with this ridiculously loaded roster would be the ultimate embarrassment for me as a Suns fan.

If we go to the lottery we'll probably land a 12th or 14th pick so it's way better to to go to the playoffs, give our souls against the Lakers and see what can happen. Even if we lose is way better than going to the lottery with this roster.

Missing the playoffs since just because we don't see it happening doesn't mean it's impossible. I'm sure fans of the Warriors didn't see their team beating the Mavs either.

We should want to be in the WCF.

Unforunately Kerr and Sarver want us to be in the lottery

BS. Everyone was saying it was going to be a very hard series for the Mavs, but just about all had the Mavs winning in about 5-7 games. Before the playoffs began, thinking the Mavs would get some home by the Warriors was something cute to think about, but I don't think many thought it was a reality until it happened.

It would be like predicting the Bobcats to beat the Lakers if they somehow met in the playoffs. Sure, the Bobcats won about 6 straight in the regular season, but the playoffs are supposed to be different. And it's the Lakers.

Definitely.

Playoffs means more money for Sarver = less chance of moving Nash

And as others have said, this draft is piss weak, and in a strong draft look what we got at #15...

I would love to see the suns knock off the lakers. But without a healthy barbs and without Amare, no chance in hell we beat them.

I know, we can blame it all on kerr and sarver when in fact it was the PLAYERS and coaching who put this team where it is. I know most hate these two, but they have at least put together a team that has a lot of talent and at least get to the playoffs. But they could not get it done. That is on the player’s shoulders, not the FO. Now the FO has not put together a smart roster, one that will contend for a championship anymore, that is on Kerr and Sarver. Oh, and past decision have affected this team since 2004 when BC decided to advise Sarver to trade the pick, sign Q and not sign JJ for 50mil. MD was a disaster in running this team as a GM, and to a point as a coach.

The door is closed, suns drafted like crap at 15 last year and I rather take the higher pick and hope our scouting staff can find a solid player. We can find a good supporting role player for this team. We concentrated so much on keeping our overpaid players (core) together that we always have had a poor supporting bench. Smart thing would have been to take one of those overpaid players and got multiple pieces back instead of an old &20 mil player. He has had a nice season, but a bad move by Kerr.

I enjoyed this time, but its time to turn the page and move on. The longer we wait, the longer the rebuilding process is going to take. And it will be painful.

Every Suns fan should want their team in the playoffs no matter what. Draft position doesn't guarantee **** when it comes to drafting solid players.

I want my team to be in the playoffs at any cost. Losing to the Lakers would be devastating since they EASILY have the least intelligent fans in the league (maybe all of sports) and living in LA, it'll be torture. But you know what? I don't give a damn. I want to see this team fight. Why should we fold up, ever? The Suns have an infinitely better shot at knocking off the Lakers than the Mavericks would. Anything can happen in a seven game series, and you know the fat old man Shaquille will want to make a statement. How SWEET would it be to knock Kobe's punk ass out of the playoffs with his old nemesis? Sure, the hype would be ridiculously annoying (and I do mean RIDICULOUSLY), but it'd be beautiful to see the faces on the Laker fans.

We can beat the Lakers. Not convinced we could ever beat the Spurs (especially with what we have now), but hey, you gotta give it a whirl.

impulse, shame on you my friend! haha - this is a debate i feel strongly about -

the suns should want to make the playoffs for many reasons, but not the least of which is the development of our team - with the youth we now have on this team, every playoff game is a learning experience and if we have the ability to get some of that this year, then we should be doing everything to get that

the only reason not to make it is a pick that is like 2 spots higher, yet the reasons to want to make it are basketball related, financial incentives, having a chance to pull an upset, and more ball for us fans to watch :-)

to quote herm edwards - "you play to win the game " :-)

you are forgiven
