Some major ish is going to go down this summer, b/c no way in hell will Sarver pay ~80 million dollars in salary+20 million in tax for a non title-contender. Either they let Nash walk, or they trade Shaq/Amare.

Amare for Blake Griffin ?

Really hard to say what they are going to do, just expect the worst and hope to get lucky.

The absolute worst thing they could do is cut Nash loose, sell off the pick for cash and do nothing else.

If we can't find a Camby-esque big man in a trade for Shaq, I would do Amare for Kristic and the first pick.

Assuming that OKC isn't going to re-sign Desmond Mason(overpaid), Malik Rose(done) or Robert Swift(bust), they'll be $9,035,240 under the cap. Salaries need to be within 125% of each other, which means we would need at least $12,056,440 coming back for Amare's contract. Since OKC has $9,035,240 of cap space, they'd only need to send out a $3,021,200 contract in return. Kristic's $4,778,548 fits the description, and we'd shed an immediate $10,292,002 off our payroll, which would help out for obvious reasons.

If we can keep Barnes and Swift for the minimum, I say you do it, because then you roll out this team next season:

That's not a terrible basis for a rebuild in 2010.

This is all of course assuming that OKC would even make that trade, what with Amare's impending Free Agency, his injury history, and his ego.

How about we give ya'll Damp and Stackhouse for Shaq both expiring contracts and save ya'll seven million if you cut Stackhouse or keep him to trade him for something.

I think anyone who trades Griffin for Amare would be making a mistake. While Amare is a sure thing, I think Griffin is pretty much a sure thing and is going to a better overall package eventually: and he doesn't seem to be the prima-donna Amare is.

I think you guys are putting way too much value on Amare. This eye problem could turn out to be a major issue. I think another guy said he had the same surgery and his vision was never the same. Not to mention Amare is likely going to need microfracture surgery again: probably not for a few more years, but it's still a future concern.

Depending on how much cap space Portland has, Suns could save a lot of money via a sequence of deals reasonable.

1. Nash to Portland for Blake/Batum(/Rodriguez), -7mil.
2. JRich + Tucker to Clippers for Baron Davis, -2mil. (Clips might want to get rid of Davis’ contract)
3. Blake +cash to Detroit for 2nd rounder, if they couldn’t sign Boozer and use up all their cap. -5mil

This alone would make them under LT cap. Potentially, Shaq could be dealt to save 4 mil using the 125% rule around the trading deadline.

Shaq/Amare/Hill/Barbosa/Davis with a bench of Amundson/Lopez/Dudley/Batum/Dragic is a good team still.

looks like we will be seeing a much differnet team next year, the depression continues. i'm hoping sarver isn't (Please Use More Appropriate Word) enough to turn us into the clippers

if anything see what we can do in term of new jersey getting shaq cause obviously they are probably a team in chase for lebron so if they want some sort of large expiring wut better way then to send shaq there for 09 pick and some youngsters.

Not a whole lot Sarver can do under the CBA to cut salary next season. Trading players will be difficult because you want to limit returning salaries as much as possible to affect the bottom line - unless he finds a rare team who is under the cap who wants to spend big money on salary (fat chance). So he is pretty much forced to eat what he has because trading players will be of little use.

So what is it now. We have a thread that many said we should go for it all next year and now we need to get rid of everyone??? Lame. That “blog” sucked. It was some bone headed unrealistic deals that is not going to happen. Like Mr Sun said, and this guy did not get is that you can't let Nash walk because we still would have to pay him that 7 mil.

Next is. Griff has had knee problems and does not have a reliable jumpshot. Neither did amare, and just because he has micro surgery does not in anyway mean he will have it again. That is an assumption. Same could come giff's way too with the way he plays and past knee problems.

I think you wait and see what others offer for our players. Many will be calling for some of our guys because of the expiring contracts. Play it smart and don’t go off like this loser and make stupid and pre mature trades just to save money.

I am very skeptical of B-diddy because of his injuries and lack of desire at times. Nash plays hard all the time, B-diddy does not. He is 6 years younger and when his deal is done, he will be 33. do you want him for 4 more years and is he worth it?

However, when he is healthy and motivated, he is a great player and would love to have him on this team.

we have the luxuy of having two shooting guards on the team that both could start. both of them make alot of money, if we resign nash i realy can see barbs or j-rich walk. and i could understand any of these moves. maybe a deal like barbs for a first rounder and cash considerations.

also i realy feel that a change for shaq will come. maybe buy him out and sign him again for the minimum. this would save us somethig or???

Pidi, what you said makes no sense. Nash is under contract till summer 2010 (TO this summer, but he's still guaranteed 7 Million even if we don't pick up the option), and Barbs and J-Rich go into the summer of 2011. Also, Shaq goes into the summer of 2010, so the only thing we can do is trade him. There is no way Sarver will pay $20 Million for a guy and not have him contribute to this team.

I think the best thing to do is dump Shaq for Ben Wallace + Sasha Pavlovic, somehow try to dump J-Rich for someone who can play defense, re-sign Hill, let Barnes walk, pick up a decent backup Center and you can roll from there. My DREAM scenario is we trade Nash + STAT and end up with a few picks + Blake Griffin, and a ton of cap space to pick up J-Kidd (30mil/3year contract with 3rd TO)...

As everyone has said, why wouldn't you just keep Blake Griffin if OKC get the #1 pick.

A) They aren't really going to be a contender until 2010 at the earliest.
B) Griffin is from OKC, they would go nuts for him.
C) You know he is going to walk in and average 10 rebs a game even if his game on offense does struggle becuase he can't just dunk on everyone in the NBA.

I know it's not fair talent wise, but I'm sure Dallas would give Dampier's expiring contract ($12.115) + Stack (only $2 mil guaranteed) + $3 mil cash for Shaq's $21 mil. That is a savings of $6.9 mil salary, $6.9 mil tax and $3 mil from the trade for a total of just under $16 mil.

^ I don't see how Phoenix turns that one down. Good trade from both sides I think

I don't think the offer was on the table from the Phoenix side at the trade deadline. It wasn't til rumors arose after the TDL that he became "unhappy" and there still was playoff aspirations at that point.

If Phoenix would do this and Cuban didn't take it, I would be soo pissed.
