Athletic and defensive- trades to help us.

Post#1 » by SideSwipe » Mon May 11, 2009 4:30 pm

Looking for some help on putting together a 2 or 3 way trade that would net us Camby, Kirilenko and Gerald Wallace for a potential lineup of:

Nash/ Dragic/ FA(Vet min)- Maybe Knight, or J. Will
Barbs/ T. Williams (#14)
Wallace/ Hill/ Dudley
Kirilenko/ Amundson
Stoudemire/ Camby/ RoLo
(The lineup could have several variations, but I think the one above would be a killer)

Very athletic, very fast, with 3 great help defenders. Shaq and richardson are the obvious pieces to help acquire these 2, but not sure that is enough (Salaries match up almost perfect with PHX saving a little bit of money). Anyone like the players? Also, is G. Wallace that big of an improvement over Ariza? I think so, but I want to hear what everyone else has to say on the topic.

This is an expensive proposition, so we would have to be pretty sure that it would really work well, before committing to a trade like this, but I think they are the kind of players that would work well in our system.

What a constructive comment....how about helping include some other players that would make sense. Does the lineup look effective? I think it does. Outside of that, I think we could make it work with 2 out of the 3 if nee be. Try to be contructive, here, and put your doobie down.

yeah it's a mean lineup for sure...but seriously I don't see either LAC, UTA or CHA doing any deals where we don't give up Barbosa or the lottery pick...

Personally, I'd rather Ariza at half the cost of Wallace.

Ariza is a 100% perfect fit for this team.

To become a defensive minded team the Suns will have to blow their team apart and start from the ground up. You can't fit square pegs into round holes.

bring us ron artest, he´s a soldier, he is that guy who wants to win and faces kobe directly.
he gives a **** what others think and yeah, imo he´s the right fit..
and, john salmons, trade j-rich for john and maybe trade shaq for b-miller and tyrus thomas and we´re set.

nash / dragic
salmons / barbosa
ronron / ghill
ama´re / ty thomas
b-miller / rolo

sounds good to me... haha

^yeah we all know that...learnt the hard way haha

They'll NEVER be a strong defensive team as long as Shaq has to defend the pick and roll, and Amare cares more about scoring rather than defending. However, they can fill the gaps in the perimeter D with guys like Ariza and Tony Allen...Dudley is also strong on D..

Ha...Howard, but I don't see him running the offense my German friend... :D

Artest, but too expensive...

How he was only 2nd team I'll never know...

Pidi, I'm off to Metallica in October man, can't wait!!

Here was some of my thinking....this is by no means perfect yet, but it includes some f my original thoughts to help explain my thinking a little more. Again, I think if we can get 2 out of the 3 players, that would still be great.

PHX trades:
Shaq, Richardson, Dudley, $3 million
PHX receives:
Kirilenko, Wallace, Camby

DET trades:
Rip, Brown
DET receives:
CHA #12, Shaq

LAC trades:
Camby, Thornton
LAC receives:
Richardson, Brown

CHA trades:
Okafor, Wallace, #12
CHA receives:
Rip, Boozer, Thornton

UTA trades:
S&T Boozer, Kirilenko
UTA receives:
Okafor, Dudley, $3million
(need to verify rules for multi-team trade including one under the cap team)

Take a look again, and let me know what you think. Huge deal, so its very unlikely, but I think the excersize is sound.

Ron Artest might be good here, I was pretty interested in him last year as a guy who can play the 2-4 positions if needed and guard those same positions, but he will be difficult to extract from HOU now that he has had some success there. He won't want to leave, and HOU won't let him go.

I hadn't thought about Tony Allen....

I really like your thought of someone leading the team defensively the same way Nash leads offensively. It could be Kirilenko, but I'm not sure he takes his defense as personally as Ron-Ron does.

I can see SA making a BIG push for Artest...they got a hole at the 3 and with Gooden most likely gone they have some $$$ they can throw at him...

The 3 guys I have always liked on defense is Ben Wallace, AK47, and Crazy Man Artest. I think Wallace has been disillusioned from his days with Detroit. He kind of reminds me of Antoine Davis. How he was a monster double-double guy but then the following year after one of his biggest productions he was crap.

I still like Kirilenko and Artest though. Seeing them on our team would be monster. I don't know how we could do it but if we could manage it that would be awesome. I think I would prefer Artest over Kirilenko but if we could either of them that would be good.

I don't know why they would do it but Kirilenko--> Phoenix for J. Rich works under the rules and stuff. But why would Utah do it???? I see the only one as a viable option is maybe getting Artest in a S&T but good pieces do we have to offer. Maybe

Barbosa, Antoine Daniels --> Houston
Artest, Chandler --> Phoenix
Shaq --> NO

But in a way if both of these deals go down then we have no SG. Maybe Artest and Hill can fill in at those spots I don't know. But this would be about and even swap money wise.

How about we give Ariza a 5 year, full MLE deal (which is 50% likely to get matched by LA, at least, but still a good chance of them letting him go and sticking to Odom). If we do pick him up, resign Hill for the LLE and do this trade:

Suns trade Shaq + J-Rich + Tucker for T.Chandler/E.Watson/T.Sefolosha/N.Collison
New Orleans trades Chandler + Posey for Shaq + A. Tucker
OKC Trades Sefolosha/Collison/Watson for J-Rich/Posey

Suns:
Nash/Watson/Dragic
Sefolosha/Barbosa/Dragic
Ariza/Hill/Dudley
Amar'e/Amundson/Dudley
Chandler/Collison/Amundson

Jeez man...that's an AWESOME team...might be the best combo of players I've seen...though the starting lineup is lacking 3 point shooters...Would almost want Barbosa starting over Thabo

Don't see OKC giving that up, and Posey wouldn't go to OKC anyway I don't think

I think Lakers would match that, and let Odom walk, and sign even a guy like Barnes who would fit a Jackson team

Good to see everyone is finally drinking the Ariza cool-aid that I have been preaching for monhts. Ron Artest NEEDS to be a Sun, period. The guy would absolutely love Phoenix, and our fans (as long as no one throws a beer at him). He is the toughness and versatility that we have been lacking for so long. Honestly, the guy may be clinically insane, which is something that may help our mentally weak squad. Make the Diesel-Chandler deal happen, try and ship J-Rich in some sort of salary dump, and go after Ariza (although I don't see him leaving LA as he grew up there).

Nash/ Dragic/ Maynor
Ariza/Barbosa/ Tuck
Artest/ G Hill/ J Dudley
Amare/ Amundson
Chandler/ Ro-Lo

As much as I'd like to see Ariza and Artest in purple and orange, they both seem quite happy where they are. If it came down to having to resign Ariza or Odom for LA, I think they'd go with Ariza because he fills more of a need for them. And I'm sorry, but I just can't see anyone taking J-Rich off our hands that easily. We would have to take back salary if we were to move him.

Honestly, there just aren't any trades I can think of that would truly benefit us. I suppose trading Shaq for Chandler + filler would be okay, but that may be too much of a gamble. Unfortunately, the best moves we could make are in free agency, and we just don't have much money to spend this summer. I would absolutely LOVE if the FO used the MLE for once, but we all know that's not going to happen.

I dont think a jrich for ak47 trade would be completely out of the question. Both fill needs for both teams and Sloan hates ak. He would be a perfect fit for us.

Nash
T will
AK
Amare
Chandler

Major defensive improvements without sacrificing much offense.

Artest/Ariza=too expensive, especially when you double the amount in lux tax, so we're not getting them unless Sarver is visited by an angry mob from the future.

sd's trade is awesome, but I don't think OKC would give up Thabo.

Richardson for Kirelenko would be fine with me except for the fact that it would totally kill what little spacing we have left.
