Clark has a promise to be picked at 14

From Hoopsworld:

According to sources, Earl Clark has received a promise from the Phoenix Suns at No. 14 that they will take him if he's available.

Clark was already one of the favorites to be selected by the Phoenix Suns at No. 14, but now it's a virtual lock if he's still available. Clark pulled out of his scheduled Sunday workout with the Bulls, who hold the No. 16 pick, after working out for the Suns on Saturday. He said it was because he was injured, which may or may not be the case, but it's more likely not the case. There was no report of him injuring himself during the workout and he didn't talk about that to reporters after the workout.

Steve Kerr had nothing but positive things to say about Clark after the workout, discussing how verstaile he is and how well he moves for a 6-foot-10 player. The Suns clearly need a small forward, and they brought in Clark along with fellow small forwards Austin Daye and James Johnson on Saturday. Clark has been abusing Daye with his strength in most of the workotus the two have faced each other in. Johnson did not look good in his first workout in Phoenix, but was much better this time around. He is a possibility if Clark is off the board at No. 14, but Clark is the Suns' man right now.

Clark is likely done with his draft workouts. The top of his draft range wasn't much higher than No. 14, so getting a promise there is good enough for Clark.

Thx for the GREAT news!! Whoo mutha fk'n Hooo!!! Clark is perfect for us. No daye, no Blair...I hope he falls. He or Jennings have to be there! BTW, that means we are signing Nash to an extention. If of course we draft Clark.

As much as I like Clark it would be hard to see him being picked over Brandon Jennings if he falls to #14 considering he fits the Suns system perfectly...If Jennings is gone though Clark would be the best pick.

That's the problem...

If Jennings falls and we've promissed Clark; I doubt Kerr will back down from that promise.

The draft was only about Earl Clark for me. Unless someone special falls. I think Jennings could be special and if we keep the team we have now going forward (which besides maybe Shaq is seeming more likely) we have a year to develop our draft pick until the geriatrics (Nash and Shaq) bolt for greener pastures.

I'm happy if we take Clark. I think passing up Jennings if he is there though could be our only mistake. Jennings is effectively just slightly better than an elite high school prospect. He didn't play enough overseas. Just watching him in some of his passing and with his motor makes your mouth drop. The rest of the game comes with work, repitition, and practice.

I also think we will pass on Jennings should he fall because Kerr still projects Dragic to be our future. The front office has been saying lately he was a top ten point guard in the league the second half of the season when you look at his projected stats. They say to ignore the first half.

The combination of pride and this promise I think means no matter what we will pass on Jennings if he falls. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

It could be a smokescreen but he would be a solid pick anyway.

whilst i think clark is perfect for us - its also not really like the suns to be so obvious about who were going to pick (apart from robin lopez)

i wouldnt be suprised to see it be a smokescreen while we take joe ingles instead :-)

patty mills in the second round - DO IT

clark or jennings at 14 - definately my 2 favourites

I'll be honest: as a Pistons fan, I'd be supremely disappointed if you guys took Clark and we ended up with Daye.

I think Clark is a big time underdog in this draft. Dont expect him to make a significant impact in his rookie year--but down the road he'll be a very good player. Perfect for the Suns who are most likely going to start re-building

I would be happy with either or. If it is clark, I will be happy. I do want Jennings because he reminds me of a young KJ. Patty Mills would be sweet too in the 2nd rd.

About nash, I think it is still up in the air. I don't think there is an answer just yet because he wants to wait and see what the suns actually do in the draft and maybe who they are targeting in FA. I think if they trade amare, I think nash is gone. If they go Clark, I think nash will want to stay because he is a young stud. Only 4 more days.

I would love to see him be able to rebound well. Imagine a 6'10 version of Marion. OUCH!!!

18PPG, 10RBG, 2BPG, 4APG I'll take it.

He has been on the radar for the last 3 years for most scouts. he rebounded well and can pass for a big man. I love his inside and outside game and I think he could be better than Odom. He has to get strong, play consistent, and become a slasher. His measurements are great too. In shoes, hes 6'10.25" with a 7'2.5" wingspand. Vert is ok at 33 at 228 lbs. Standing touch is 9'1.5" which is nice.

One thing on the video on the suns.com about him, they said when he switched off on Jennings, they said he kept him in front of him and played him well. Very versatile type of player we really need on this team.

Now only can we get another pick.

I think he's this year's Jeff Green and moves WAY up on draft day...I think the MIN, TOR or even NJ take him before he lands in Phoenix

Can pray though...we're due some luck now, surely!

If Clark lands on No.14 I'd be happy with that pick.

But as some have stated, Nets, Bobcats might nab him.

If so, then it would mean T.Williams slipped or Jennings. Which can throw off the rest.
I'm sure Kerr and Griffin has their top 5 set by now.

(1) Jennings
(2) Clark
(3) Daye
(4) Johnson
(5) Williams.
