Message to Robert Sarver/Cancelled Season Tickets

I've always lurked on here always enjoyed reading the great discussions but never really felt the need to post but desperate times... This is a copy of the email I just sent to the front office.

Dear Mr. Sarver

I've been a Suns fan for the past 20 years and have enjoyed watching them grow both as a team and organization. I've always felt proud of the sense of community the Suns have brought to the great state of Arizona. In the past the Suns haven't always been on top of the rankings, had the top players in the league, or made the best front office decisions but people in the organization from the players up to the management felt a responsibility to do their job to the best of their ability to provide the best product they can to the city of Phoenix. In return the city, state and Suns fans have always stuck by the team thru thick and thin.

It's with great regret Mr. Sarver that I have to inform you that I can no longer continue to support this organization. Not while you and the front office have neglected your responsibilities to fans and the Phoenix community to provide the best product to fans. I understand that you have stated that you are doing your job as owner of the team to the best of your ability. With the incompetence of the front office that you are supposed to be managing I am forced to believe that either you have no ability to manage a basketball team whatsoever or just care about hiring buddies like Steve Kerr who will sell valuable team assets so you can line your pockets.

Fans have continued supporting this team even thru your behavior or lack of it, but every man has his breaking point. My conscience won't allow me to provide money to a greedy man whose interest is only to become richer and feels no responsibility to give back to the community, not monetarily but by simply doing their job. I can no longer be a season ticket holder. I only hope one day you may increase your net wealth to a level where you are content and no longer feel the need for so much greed and will sell the team to somebody that will allow the Suns to once again provide the spark in fans life that they once held.

Sincerly,

FallenSun

Welcome Shock,

Sorry your first post came down to posting that letter. I can understand your frustration as a fan. When the Blazers were really going down the tubes it hurt pretty bad. Never the less, after sticking by them and finally turning a corner, it's making the wait worth it. It looks like Phoenix is blowing it up to rebuild. The road might be bumpy but it's well worth while when things finally turn around. Hope you get a positive response from the front office.

I can't blame you, I would also cancel my season tickets too. In this economy, there's better things to spend money on that an uninspiring basketball team. I personally just like watching the games on the big screen.

in complete agreement with the Thread Starter's point of few. The current management has done an atrocious job. 5 years ago this team was young hungry, exciting and primed to be a contender for many years. Move after move that seemed purely financially motivated or completely short sighted at best has left this franchise as an embarrassment. I've been a Suns fan for 30 years and I wouldn't attend a game with the current front office/ownership in place if the tickets were given to me.

Call me a whiner or whatever, matters not. and certainly wont change my opinion of the job they've done from alienating and then chasing D'antoni out of town, to hiring Terry Porter to Low balling joe Johnson and then having to trade him due to him being disgruntled to selling off first round picks due no one being available to help the team ( but somehow these players helped teams with better records than the suns had) and on and on and on....Suffice it to say they are truly incompetent.

Can't wait to see some of you jump back on the ship in a few years. I don't care how bad the front office is right now, yea, they suck, but some of you are going to give up until these guys are gone? You got many from down under who would kill to be in your position (season tix) bad front office or not. You're not a true Suns fan if you're boycotting Suns basketball because we have a couple of idiots running the show for the time being. These low points will only be more satisfying when we do dig ourselves out of what we're in.

Your opinions are good although it might have been good to wait a couple days to see if additional moves accompany this one sided Shaq trade. There better be something good coming, otherwise you were too nice to Mr. Sarver.

So enjoy yourself, I have been through the thick and thin with this team many times over, I wasn't always a fan of the previous ownership, but i truly did believe they had some sort of vision or concept. This current group doesnt have a clue and i am sick of them. My hate for them currently out weighs the Fanboy in me. I would love to be proven wrong and see they had a plan or vision in place, but they make mistakes and then compound them by over paying to undo the original mistake over and over again. I mean Christ they can't crunch numbers? they couldnt foresee that Kurt Thomas might put them over the cap? and then have to pay some other team 2! first round picks just to bail them out.

anyway I am not telling you who to root for, do as you wish.

I'm definitely not a fan of Kerr/Sarver, but they won't make me avoid spending money on going to Suns games or buying their merchandise. Most of the moves they've made have been complete failures, I know that. It sucks to be the Isiah Knicks (I guess) of the NBA right now. But if some fans plan on giving up on the Suns until they rise to the top again, whatever.

it has nothing to do with if they are on top or not, i've watched them for many years, I was a fan through lottery bound versions of the suns.I was a fan through the drug fiascoes of the 80s. I was a fan of them after they traded Dennis johnson for Rick Robey even. It's about I dont believe this current group of morons can do their job and i have no faith in them to make moves that will make me feel excited to be a suns fan. Every year since they've been in place the off season and in particular the draft has been a disappointment at best and infuriating most of the time.

I agree. Though I'll always like being a Suns fan. We could be the Clippers. :x

If I was a Suns season ticket holder I would be doing the same thing (canceling my tickets). Why shell out ludicrous amounts of money to watch a team whose ownership appears to be in it solely for financial gain?

You can still support the team by watching games on TV (yes, I realize some of the revenue generated from this goes to the ownership).

Liquidation – Get ready for 5+ years of losing.

President Obama, please instead of buying out the auto industry or changing our health care system – buy out the Suns. Think of all the health care savings for all the Suns fans – It could stimulate the whole economy.

You have to make a stand some where. What's the deal with all the people who sign up last week posting on this thread?

Teams have to change and evolve year by year, even 60 wins teams like the Suns were. There has to be change and all of us can deal with it but what's been done to this team in 2 years is ... unconscionable. Unforgivable.
Had we lost a player or two over the years, it would still seem like the Suns but the wholesale dismantling has been brutally sudden - if Nash or Amar'e go now, it will be complete.
It will be very hard to watch the team after that.

Sarver-Kerr make Mchale, Isaiah, Sterling, Heisley look good in comparison.
