AMARE..... the untradable Sun

Facts :
Amare is looking forward to opting out. He and his agent can't wait to be part of the bidding buzz that will go on next yr
Amare believes he will get a MAX DEAL ie 100 mil for 5
Amare is coming off an injury
Amare will ( e v e n t u a l l y ) need a season altering knee surgery
Amare is a one trick pony but a very good one trick
Amare has casually solicited other markets
Amare's value, though low to others, is still high to us
Kerr is a patsy and gives even the most mediocre GMs hope for a white washin
Phnx has no back up PF to speak of

am I missing any others ??

Who, in their right minds would offer legitimate value for him ?

He must be resigned by PHNX in order to remove the major doubt of departure. No team is going to give us squat w/o the guarantee he stays more than a yr...ie a long term contract. Every deal that is constructed for him, will hinge upon this, giving Amare total control of his destiny.

Question is... does Phnx have the Nuts to sign him ? We will have the room, his contract would not go into effect for this yr...giving Phnx ample time to please him or breeze him.... and ....

no matter who gets him, his price tag will be relatively the same

If we want a respectable offer for Stat, he MUST BE SIGNED

am I correct with this sourceless assumption ?

i think that's true, but isn't that the main holdup in this GS deal? if he doesn't sign in GS, they don't give us Curry, and if they don't give us Curry, we don't do the deal.

Pretty simple imo

Stoudemire already having a new contract in place would definitely help to get more bidders, but if all those trades fall through? Now you're stuck with him long-term. I think it's best for the organization to wash their hands of him and start anew. Like it or not, STAT is not the franchise player the Suns had hoped for. STAT is a great player, but both the Suns and Stoudemire need a divorce at this point.

Ok Frank for Kerr's Replacement. Start the petitions. I wonder if we could somehow convince Mark Cuban to trade franchises with Sarver. That's my ultimate unrealistic basketball related fantasy

The more I think of it with the way the FO has acted they should be more worried about Suns players losing respect for them and going awall(At least in their playing style)

We have some great leadership in the locker room with Nash and Hill but even their not blind. More than ever Kerr need to GO...

Chicago would prolly go after him + JRich even without the extension in a deal that includes Hinrich/Deng/Tyrus Thomas, specially if Ben Gordon walks and they get J-Rich to replace him as well.

That'd allow em to unload Deng/Hinrich's big contracts that run far past 2010, and who they don't really need next to a PG like Rose at their price tags.
Should work out well for Chi-town, but even if Amare winds up to be damaged goods, they can just let him expire and go after Bosh instead.

I sincerely doubt Kerr will stick around as GM after his contract is up.

But, but, but Kerr said on draft night "Amaré is not being shopped."

The FO has lost all respect because of their backtracking and outright lies. I want Jerry Colangelo back as owner.

nah it's fine, I don't consider it trolling. I would do that but every time I merge/lock threads people moan and/or call me Joseph or Adolf :D

So I would, but this is such a hot topic there is news seemingly every hour or two and new articles just get posted as new threads anyway. cheers for the observation though

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't this a defacto "sign and trade" situation with the Warriors (or another taker). No contract stretched/expanded, no deal. And the Suns are the only team who can agree to an extension with Amare before 7/8/10 without a trade?

Read: it's a given that an extension is obligatory to move Amare
