All is quiet on the Western Front...
Sorta.
There is still chatter with a couple of teams. More than Amare is being discussed. Some teams have made some really dumbass offers. I mean, like laughable ****.... guess they don't respect Suns management too much.
Amare to Golden State is most likely but we won't get the original deal (I'd be happy if they could get their 2010 pick back instead anyway and include it unprotected which is what I hear is going on now and this is contingent upon) and the Atlanta stuff is just talk but substantial enough that we should pay attention to it. Chicago talks are slowing down since they declared they wouldn't give Amare a max deal. Believe it or not there were talks with the Lakers. Heh. Nothing going.
Management is really focussed on keeping Nash happiest. They figure Nash will land asses in the seats the most out of anyone on the team.
Should be a slow 10 days or therabouts. Something should get done though in the next ten days.
I should note that the FO wants certain birdies to quit squwaking so information should be slow for a little bit. Will comment if I hear anything otherwise.
That's what I hear anyway, take it for what it's worth (a little at best) or don't take it at all.

Re: All is quiet on the Western Front...
Catch up on what the deal is. The Warriors cannot give us their first pick because they have a conditional pick with the Nets that rides three years. You cannot trade #1 picks back to back in the NBA. This means unless they get their conditional pick back from the Nets they cannot offer the Suns a pick until 2015.
I'm hoping they get it back somehow and are able to throw it in.

as a Portland fan I think the original offer for Amare by GS was too much. I mean Biedrins - Wright - Belleni seem about as much as you guys can expect. Trying to get Curry is greedy and appears to nix the deal - dumb IMO.

Agreed. Give them Dragic + Lopez if they want, but we want Curry.

i'm fine with two first rounders instead of curry, but only if they have some low, low protection on them

Re: All is quiet on the Western Front...
personally i think a top 3 protected 2010 pick trumps curry by a long shot. Next years draft has a lot more star quality talent and is a lot deeper from everything I've read, even if you take Wall out of the equation.

Yawn. As a Portland fan stick to being a Portland fan and adiosThe deal was agreed to before the draft and the pick was included. It wasn't greedy. It's why we're pushing for the pick now. What was promised is promised. To back off it is to lose face. Both teams save face if the GSW get their pick back from the Nets and include it.
Yawn back. Get greedy and get little. Amare can opt out next summer and maybe you get nada, good luck.

Re: All is quiet on the Western Front...
Unless Amare goes down with an injury is there any way GS doesn't make the playoffs next year with him though? The West is looking a bit crazy right now, with the Lakers having to make some tough choices, Houston losing Yao, Utah loozing maybe Boozer, Millsap, or Okur, and us, well who knows what we're doing.
I can see them winning in the high 40s with Amare which would put our pick right around the tail end of the lottery again.

Re: All is quiet on the Western Front...
I think both sides (GS and Suns) are good with the pick included instead of Curry. It's all on Jersey now. The talk is they'll use the Speedy Claxton expiring (mostly paid off by insurance) to take a contract or two off Jersey's hands in exchange for the pick back.
Should appeal to Jersey who isn't even likely to get a a first rounder when you take the protection into account (top 8 protected at the lowest in 2013 and then turns into 2nd rounders).

Agreed on the draft pick...but... despite Khoees assertions I have seen nothing else out there that says GS has reacquired its own draft pick rights. Unless that happens, I suspect that the GS deal is dead....
Side note...Suns could do a 3 way:
Suns Send: Amare Stoudemire to GSW
Jason Richardson to NJN
Suns Receive: Andris Biedrins
Brandan Wright
Marco Belinelli
Bobby Simmons
GSW 2010 1st round pick
GSW Send: Andris Biedrins
Brandan Wright
Marco Belinelli
GSW 2010 1st round pick
GSW Receives: Own 1st Round Pick rights from NJN
Amare Stoudemire
NJN Send: GSW 1st round pick to GS
Bobby Simmons
NJN Receives: Jason Richardson
I've never heard of teams giving a pick away for "doing favors". Moving picks has to be done for some consideration, even if it is just cash. Also, it has to be on the record, so count me as skeptical about Khoees claim for now.

Re: All is quiet on the Western Front...
from everything i've read , it looks like a mid to late lottery pick next year will have better prospects than most of the earlier picks of this draft, of course excluding the top 2 or 3.. anyway... the main thing for me, is that the negotiated a settlement that doesn't look like the caved after GS attempted to make them take it or leave it after changing the original deal

i'm skeptical as well. Just saying if this is the case etc.. on the other hand. I would rather have richardson than simmons.

mh, i don´t know why but i like dragic - give him time to develope and he can be a 12 pg, 6 ast player, but lopez is a total scrub, give ´em lopez...

If we're doing a draft pick, it's got to be UNPROTECTED. I have a bad taste in my mouth from the last top-3 protected pick we had. The Suns' luck as an organization is terrible ... if they get another Top-3 pick, the team we get the pick from will get one of the top 3 spots again.

Don't know who vouched for Khoee, but the next thing he gets right will be the first. Dude's claim to fame is getting run off different Warriors fan message boards. No more no less.
Warriors haven't gotten their pick back, but word is it's being discussed and is likely the compromise between GS and the Suns.
Doubt Jersey would be interested in JRich. They added two swingmen on draft night (Terrence Williams and Courtney Lee) and are trying to cut salary for 2010. JRich hurts them on both counts

i dont see much chance of GS being one of the three worst teams in the league next year so odds are really slim it would fall within the top three anyway. Funny thing and this is piggybacked from someone else's point. If some variation of this trade is completed I really don't think either GS or Phx makes the playoffs next year even with Houston's issues. LA, SA, Denver, Portland, NO all seem to be locks.
I could be wrong, but a dynamically offensive team with limited depth like GS and Phx with a completely new lineup and very limited offense just don't strike me as competitive in the west.
I know those are don't preclude either team from making more changes but i just don't see it as young and with so many new pieces in place.
