Anyone here listen to fanster.com radio show? Today's episode is pretty interesting featuring Bruce Jacobs talking about the suns direction.
The suns banter starts at around 7 minutes.

Re: Fanster Sports
I don't know who this Bruce Jacobs guy is, but that man speaks the truth.
He was absolutely spot on when he said that if we moved STAT it would most probably take us at least 5 years before we're a good enough team to gain respect. He spoke the truth about the garbage we're getting from the W's if we gave them STAT, he spoke the truth when he talked about Kerr's horrible track record as GM and he spoke the truth when he talked about our FO's apparent lack of direction.
Good post ginobliflops.

^ Sure man. I also think he's right too. I had the attitude of Amar'e is annoying off the court and he will never play defense but now I think he have to keep Amar'e and sign him to an extension. Last time we traded a star like Amar'e was Barkley which was disastrous. I think we can still compete with a few key additions.

Re: Fanster Sports
You see the thing is, Amare is probably one of those players that a franchise gets once in a decade. His defense is shocking, his attitude could be better and he could act more like a leader, but those are issues that aren't that big of a deal if surround him with the right players. Chandler or Camby can mask his defense and rebounding. A player like Nash or Billups can take away that leadership responsibility. Create a defensive culture around him to make him play with more effort on both ends of the court. Yeah there are many times when what he does on and off the court is questionable, but if Artest can be trouble free for this long, I don't see why Amare won't mature mentally in the future.
I've always thought this about Amare, he has his problems but not many teams gets to have a player of this caliber that is still relatively young at 26, has the physical tools to be a dominating 25/12 guy and has a proven playoff record.

I'm with you - he's a rare player and except for opening his mouth at the wrong times and to say some dumbass things, he's really a very good guy, good in the community, doesn't drive drunk or any likewise crap. And he's still getting better

Have the Suns actually seen him work out yet or are they assuming he's perfectly healthy? If you give him a MAX deal then he gets hurt the franchise is over

Obviously he has to prove that he can play before doing anything. But considering how close the GSW trade was to going down, I'm sure he would've showed something to both teams to show he can still play.

Re: Fanster Sports
Theres two types of Suns fans here it seems..
ones who use their heart
and ones who use their heads..
Stoudemire isnt Barkley first of.... lol, Barkley was 6'6 who played like he was 7'2. Stoudemire is 6'10 who plays like he is 6'7.
Kerr has been bad as GM, but he may have a case that SUNS owner was on his ears for all the moves he had made. A puppet of some sort.
Second, Kerr and FO will definitely have medical records and expert opinions that Stoudemire's doctors wrote about his surgery and possible surgeries in the future. Basically, I think Kerr and SUNS reluctant to extend him is more than the fact Stoudemire doesnt play D, lacks leadership, but the fact that he will likely go another surgery to replenish his knees.... thats 18 months to 2 years recovering. Stoudemire obviously believes he'll be fine.... but Kerr and FO just doing their due diligence by avoiding a situation where Stoudemire is "out of action" or "injured" 2 years out of the next 5 years.
Getting the Warrior's players AND pick (Curry or future), gives SUNS new blood for the next 2-3 years. Nash is No.1 priority because (a) he sells tickets (b) he makes players around him better (c) Kerr looks at Nash + getting young players as best way to be relevant in 2-3 years time.
ALL with small contracts too... as Kerr has emphasized... he doesnt want the Suns stuck with 1 giant $20 Million+ contract on a player especially if there is a chance that player will be "injured" or "out of action.....
Its all part of due diligence by companies everywhere...

Yeah like IHG calling his shot saying Steph Curry is a Sun w/o Amare even getting a physical

Amare was cleared for physical workouts 3 days before the draft. He didn't need to prove that he's at NBA level of fitness, he just needed to prove that his eyes are good enough.

why not give him something like a three year max deal? minimizes the damage if he gets hurt but still retains him.
unless we have an amare-level talent (and lol, no one else is close), i don't see why we should be trading him for lesser pieces.

See, having all small contracts is wrong. Everyteam that wants a championship needs a max deal or near max sorta guy.
