Trevor Ariza= A younger Marion

Steve has the opportunity to get back what he traded away 1 1/2 years ago. A younger, cheaper Marion could be had if Kerr gets his head straight. Ariza can defend, can rebound, is fast, can shoot, can be clutch and what I love the most, he will accept 7-8 mil a year. Imagine if we do sign Ariza, he covers a lot of Steve Nash's weakness plus is as athletic as Marion when he was younger. Ariza is taller than Marion plus is only 24 YEARS OLD!!!
Nash/Goran
Richardson/ Barbosa
Ariza/ Dudley/Clark
Amare/Lou/Clark
Chandler/Lopes/Amare
That is a good lineup that can contend with the Lakers and the Spurs!!! Come one Kerr, if you built it, we will show up!!!!

That is an insult to The Matrix.
Trevor Ariza is a very poor mans Matrix. Sure he played ok in the playoffs, but he is nowhere near what Shawn Marion was for us. Heck he's not even anywhere near what The Matrix was for Miami or Toronto.

Ariza is a lot younger than Marion and he doesn't look constipated when he shoots... Sky's the limit for Ariza plus he's got mad HEART! Get it done

Lol,
Kobe
Artest
Odom
Gasol
Bynum
Ridiculous. I thought we had a chance if we signed Chandler and Clark matured extremely fast, oh well.
That is why I love football more!!! That crap doesn't happen!! Any market can win, even without lucking up on a Duncan or Jordan!!

Ariza is a nice "role" player for a team. He will never be anything close to the star Marion was for us. Marion was crazy out of the gates for us and has always been solid. If he did not sign for houston, I would not mind the suns giving him around 3 mil. He is not worth the full MLE.

Yeah, this is Ariza's what, 4th team now? Guy was fortunate enough to fall into a situation that allowed him to play to his strengths (spot up shooting, D, hustle scoring) and disguise his weaknesses. You put him on a different team with a more prominent role (which will happen, as more money equates to higher expectations) and he'll struggle.
You can't blame him, or any player, for taking the highest offer put to them though.
Truth be told, if Ariza tanked/ got injured in LA, he'd be out of the league - he was Gerald Green before joining them.

So are you telling me Ariza is an All-Star material? Seriously? I guess you don't know Marion was a 20/10/2/2 MVP candidate, and was top 3 in DPOY voting in his prime? Ariza doesn't score, rebound, and defend the way the Matrix does. A 32 years old Marion is still better than Ariza right now and in the future. A poor man Shawn Marion, maybe.

Marion was a unique talent. Not as sound defensively as Ariza, but has other qualities like fastest second jump etc.

Ariza hasn't done anything to warrant a contract more than Artest, surely?
And comparing him to Marion is a slap to Trix

Does anyone know if there is a chance we sign Marion for the MLE?

i don't think he'll sign here ever again unless we offer him more money than SarvKerr will; too much bad blood. And even if there wasn't any tension between our FO and Shawn, i don't think he'd take the MLE unless he was going to a contender.
Now, if he'd do it for the money, then the easy decision is sign and trade JRich for Marion...Marion gets a 3 year contract(required by SandT i think, only first year guaranteed) starting at 9 mill, waaaaay more than he'll get in the open market.
Nash
Hill
Marion
Amare
Chandler
YES

Marion beats Ariza at everything besides shooting.
That said, the Rox now have a nice, relatively young core of Brooks/Ariza/Landry/Scola.
If they get smart and ditch Yao/T-Mac so that they get to surround those guys with usefull players, they'll finally be able to make some noise in the playoffs....
