Love the fact that Kerr said he didn't see Wallace or Pavlovic a part of the team and their contracts are very valuable as trade pieces to get players they want in trades. So, with that said, and Marion and Chandler's names being put out there, would Marion prefer here over the Mavs? Depending on the asking price from Marion (if it's around $6-8 mil) then the Suns could trade Pavlovic and Tucker. If it's higher, say $9-10, then the Suns could deal Wallace for Marion and Parker (S&T). All in all, the Suns would still have their MLE to use elsewhere (say half to Wilcox and part to Frye to shore up 2 more bigs)

Kerr is simply trying to save face here. I'll say this, if we don't make any moves that get us talent that can contribute immediately, ie not the golden state deal, then we'll surely be a lottery team without a pick.

he made a few good points that people are overlooking... while the suns wouldn't have been a contender, per se, last year, they were only 2 games out of the playoffs and did have a lot of bad things happen. he'll never really take responsibility for the awful decision of putting porter in charge. if amare hadn't gotten hurt last season, and barbosa didn't miss what 7-8 crucial games, and gentry had taken over a little earlier in the season, the team would have definitely made the playoffs. clear shaq out of the middle (which i've thought was a problem since he got to the suns) and it makes amare's offensive game much more effective. while shaq had a great season last year, it came as a detriment to the rest of the players. add another wing player with a fairly consistent 3 point shot and that is able to defend opposing teams stronger guard, and a defensive minded center, who can also run with the team, and the team is back to being in top SSOL form. also... amare will most likely have to wear the goggles for the rest of his career, and he was a beast last season while wearing them.

The problem is 3 seasons ago teams were scared at us. When we played our best there wasn't a team in the league that could beat us. In my opinion we were the best team in the league, but we got unlucky with injuries and are star players getting unfairly suspended.
All that we needed to win a title was a little depth and an actual frontcourt. Instead Kerr traded Kurt Thomas and thru the years and his transactions we have gotten progressively worse. So when he says this team can make the playoffs big whoop. He's just saying that we haven't hit rock bottom yet.
What he needed to say was that he was going to do everything in his power to get us back to SSOL contenders by getting us a mobile defensive center and a defensive wing who can stroke the three. If he can't do that with the Wallace, Pavlovic contract I have no faith in him rebuilding and he should resign.

I really hope Kerr pushes for a 1st rounder to be included if we gave NOR Wallace. I just have a feeling Kerr is too much of a pussy to ask. Pav's contract is good, we should be able to get a decent piece for him, but I think we're more than likely to just buy him out.
