The official Matt Barnes appreciation thread
Now that Barnes is gone, this is to appreciate for what he did for the Suns last year. He was the Suns best defender and brought toughness to the team when Amare went out with that injury. Anyway list all your appreciations about Matt Barnes.

Re: The official Matt Barnes appreciation thread
he was not the Suns' best defender, Hill was
I loved his toughness, but HATED how many times he failed to completely wrap up a guy going for a layup or dunk and they got an And 1 out of it
Loved the hustle, dunking with his left hand, strong ballhandling...I feel kind of robbed though - as he should - he wasn't used like he should have been and his season was good for the price, but he was capable of so much more I think
Still hope we try to keep him

Re: The official Matt Barnes appreciation thread
thank you for a lot of dumb plays, some nice hustle, some intensity. too sad that this team had no cojones to play hard basketball - and man, get a new freaking haircut. damn

Props to the great one

Re: The official Matt Barnes appreciation thread
He had some good moments, but for every good game that he had, he had 2 or 3 terrible games. His shot is inconsistent which wouldn't be a big deal if he wouldn't just constantly chuck up 3's. He has great ballhandling for his size, he's a good passer(when he makes good decisions), and he's a solid defender.
With that said, his BBall IQ seems to drop the further into the season we got. He made some boneheaded passes, some ridiculous decisions on breaks, weak fouls(which tastic mentioned), bad shot selection, and just all around poor play.
I wouldn't mind bringing him back, but I wouldn't want to spend much on him.

Remember last season, one of those last few games, where every one counted, and we were trying to make the playoffs, and there was a few seconds to go, game was tied, Suns ball, and Barnes got the inbound pass, freaked out cause he was about to be double teamed, and threw the ball back to Grant Hill... who was still standing out of bounds? Thanks Barnes.

Re: The official Matt Barnes appreciation thread
thanks for signing my jersey Barnes. Despite several "I want to punch you in the stomach because i can't believe you really just did that" bonehead moves he was great for us. Like i've said streaky as all hell, but tenacious and tough which is something the Suns always seem to need improvement on (Well since the Barkley days)

Matt Barnes will look like MJ, Bird, Magic and Kobe all rolled up into one compared to some of the borderline D-League crap we will be throwing out on the floor next year after we're forced to give away our stars for peanuts....
So, um, good luck Barnesy...

I live in Sacramento and play in a softball league and was surprised two weeks ago seeing Matt Barnes playing on the other team at first base. I'm a Warrior fan so it was a delight to see him in person. He signed my Warrior hat, but when I asked him where he might end up he kind of just shrugged his shoulders.

I'm glad he played for us, and I think the good outweighed the bad with him.

Looks like it.
Loved his intensity, hustle but question his decisions sometimes.

For what we paid for him, he was awesome. Good luck Matt, we enjoyed your toughness. Hopefully the rest of the guys learned some of that from you.

I appreciate Matt's attitude and happy for this new opportunity for him. That said, I am glad the Suns decided not to bring him back.

Good Luck in Orlando... If we by the will of god alone, somehow meet in the finals... please play with as many bonehead moves as you did while on our team so we can secure a sweep.
