Suns should trade for Josh Howard

Post#1 » by statisback » Thu Jul 16, 2009 2:33 am

I dont see Dallas keeping him due to having Marion and Dirk already. Howard would help the Suns defense significantly and provide scoring. Maybe try to trade J Richardson for Howard?

I brought this up before and everyone thought i was crazy. It would be hard to bring hill off the bench, but Howard is also an expiring and would save us $$ next year. You would also have to add another DAL player to make the salaries match, and i would love for that other player to be Barea!

Actually a straight up trade works on realgm.
The only thing is that we would need to keep Sasha as our SG. I think he is still a decent player and should be given a chance given that he is only 24

He can get to the cup and score. That would be helpful. But he is a knuckle head.

Dallas won't trade him, but let's go for Marquis Daniels at a fraction of the price.

If the Suns are really getting Von Wafer then they sure aren't getting Marquis Daniels...

Howard does have some talant but the guy is a bozo, he says some if the dumbest things... I don't mind that half the guys in the NBA smoke weed... but he's the only one dumb enough to volunteer that he does... for no reason... just to say it, didnt seem to have any reason to talk about it so leisurely.

Also he said something about not celebrating the national anthem because "he's black", not sure if he even knows what he was trying to say on that one.

Probably just lacks a filter from his brain to his mouth... reminds me of one big man we got and one big man we got rid of... I cant really act like I never said anything dumb, luckily for me I wasnt on video.

Lets bring in Jason Williams as our sixth man and we got a nice squad.

Might as well make an all knucklehead team while you're at it:

C Dalembert / Kwame
F Amare / Swift
F Howard / Barnes
G Richardson / McCants
G Alston / Banks

11th man: Brandon Jennings
12th man: Shawn Williams
13th man: Von Wafer <------------------- Yes, he is a knuckhead soon to be Suns player.

No. Marquis Daniels is taller and would add a different dimension than Wafer would. Wafer is one dimensional IMO.

We are not trading Howard for J-Rich,
Howard is NOT expendable as we need his and Marion's D. Baring a free agent signing or major trade, we are looking like this:

C: Dampier (24) / Dirk (16) / Whoever (8)
PF: Dirk (20) / Marion (20) / Humphries-Williams-Singleton (8)
SF: Marion (16) / Howard (24) / whoever (8)
SG: Howard (12) / Terry (36)

Marion's arrival does not mean a Howard departure.

Also, to my disbelief, one of the guys who leaks info from the Mavs front office has this to say:
Link
Marvin Williams? Michael Redd? Rip Hamilton? Rudy Fernandez? Leandro Barbosa? There’s a lot to like there – and the Mavs do like them, on different levels and for different reasons.

Jason Richardson? Corey Maggette? There is less to like … and the Mavs feel that way.
Personally, of all the names there, I take Richardson. But none of them I trade Howard to get.
