Your Opinions On This Team?

Hey guys,

I was wondering recently about what would have happened if Amare was traded to the Bulls at the trading deadline for Tyrus Thomas (which was the rumor).

The Suns starting line-up would have been...

Shaq
Tyrus
Hill
Richardson
Nash

How good would that team have been?

Thanks.

It would have been worse, that's for sure .... Tyrus < Amare

Shaq wasn't a good fit for the team and there's a huge dropoff between Amare and Tyrus talent wise. If all we got in the trade was tyrus not very good at all.

I would have hoped at least Hinrich or Deng would have been included with any trade for Amare. That being said I'm glad we kept Amare. You only trade a player when there value is high enough to get you the best package.

No the team would have been by far not as good. Shaq cloggs the lane and Amare shot mostly jumpshots. Amare can hit those shots; I don't know about Tyrus. I can't see Tyrus having a great field goal % with more jumpshots then dunks.

But Tyrus is a much better defender than Amare.

He would get a lot of easy baskets playing with Nash because he runs the floor well.

Remember, they averaged 118 PPG under Gentry WITHOUT Amare and Tyrus is better than Barnes.

Scoring wasn't the problem. It was the defense and Tyrus is a better defender.

That would have been a good team, in my opinion.

Tyrus can't hit open shots.. he can but don't count on it to drop like Amare's. I know this may sound stupid but I would rather have Barnes last year then Tyrus. Shaq is so big down there, he (Tyrus) wouldn't know what to do with the ball.

Yeah because if Amare was with the Bulls, Glen Davis would have put up more than just 18 and 7 in the first round of the playoffs.

Suns make the playoffs, and maybe give L.A. a run for their money... and we'd be talking rebuild right about now.

I heard it died after Wafer had a secret practice session with the Suns and didn't perform as well as the Suns thought he would. I read that somewhere. Maybe it was on here lol.

Dude I was just reading random stuff on different websites, I don't remember. It could have been twitter, realgm, etc. I have no idea. I am not an "insider" just in case you were thinking that lol.
Its just something I heard a few days ago. Maybe someone else can verify that for me.

Wouldn't be a horrible line-up but we'd be fighting to get in the playoffs in my opinion... throw in deng or heinrich then maybe we'd be pretty competitive.

Na man. I'm in North Carolina right now, I haven't really kept in contact with any Phoenix Suns fans lately. So I been trying to find anything Suns related to keep me occupied while I'm here. I'll try and find that article though.
