He's not the same player he used to be, not really a big move at this point a rookie from the Suns summer league team like Michael Downs or Jerry Hubalek would even be better.

let him go there. Its not like he can help us board or defend the paint.... What's wrong with you guys. We need guys that can protect the paint not lazy hacks who likes to shoot threes.

We've been saying that for years... What makes you think it will happen now?

Re: Tim Thomas almost a Maverick
well suns need to do something b/c they were unhappy with the Summer league play of guys they were hoping would be breakout.
if they go with this current lineup, they prob won't be much of a threat to Lakers, Spurs, Mavs, and Nuggs.
They need to waive Pavlovic and trade Tucker for some cash. Then use cash for a hard nosed guy like Anthony Carter and hope for another big like Joe Smith falls in their lap.

Man. Tim Thomas would have been a nice addition. He can play rough, if he wants.
Dallas did indeed do a good job. Maybe the Suns can offer Thomas slightly more than the Bi-Annual Exception to bring Thomas to the Suns instead.

TT would be nice here but he wouldn't provide what we need and that's defense. I'd rather we lose 3-5 games by giving TT's PT to Clark or Duds than spending money on someone that doesn't really help our long term or short term future. I may sound like I have no faith in our team, but I don't really expect us to make noise this year, even if we make playoffs. Better off keeping that extra that Sarver is so desperate for and use it on getting someone we really need somewhere down the road.
As for Dallas bringing in guys like Trix, Gooden and Ross, good for them. I'm not sure how much closer to the championship they are, but I honestly don't see them going real deep in the playoffs either quite frankly. Barring any injuries even the Jazz would give them a run for their money even after they move Boozer. Then you got the up and coming Blazers and a reloaded Spurs. The lower echelon playoff teams in the west kinda dwindling whereas the top echelon get even stronger.

Re: Tim Thomas almost a Maverick
Thomas dicked us for cash... you guys forget and forgive rather quickly. He came here as a rental and Nash/D'Ant resurrected his career. He claimed this was the greatest fit, the best place, he had found a home...blah blah blah. He knew of the restrictions we had to resign him. We offered him our max, a very reasonable deal, but he opted for a little more green and a ticket to bounce around the league some more.
He'd be a nice addition, but you have to draw the line somewhere. We are proceeding with a psuedo youth movement out of necessity.
Give this roster some time and quit crying over what everyone is doing.... you can't go to every party. What did you really expect this year ??

Its funny to hear people say D. We kind of tried that last year and how did that turn out??? With this roster, it is what it is and D and protecting the paint is not this team. It is Run and Gun. This team will be like this till Nash retires. Then you will see the suns change.
Second of all, I think Dallas has done a good job in bringing in good talent. Some are past their prime, but are good players. With the moves they have made, I think this puts them to be the 4th best team in the WC behind the lakers, spurs and nuggets.

I totally agree with this. Let's wait a little to see suns in action during regular season to judge them. TT is a good player that's for sure, but we're trying to add young players to develop. Nash & Hill's professionalism helping them to grow and reach a nice level. It's not the excitement of trying to win a championship but it's kind of interesting to follow the progression of Dudley, Dragic, Lopez, Clark etc on long term basis.

If I recall Thomas actually made 30%-40% more by going to LAC, a move that each of us would also have made if put in the same position, so I bear him no ill will. I believe we offered $4million for 2 years, and he took the full MLE which I think was $5.6 million.

Sound thinking, old bean.
Noway we contend this year, but we can be very respectable. TT was not going to help us, even on the best day of his life - he's just not what we need at the moment. Mobile, defensive big, solid defensive 2. other than that, why bother?

--- When people say D here, I think they're talking about what we had a few seasons ago, with Raja, Marion and Diaw. That was a solid defensive team - not the Spurs or Celts, but sufficient stoppage for our purposes.Second of all, I think Dallas has done a good job in bringing in good talent. --- I think LAL is going to suffer this year if Odom goes to the Heat, which I pray to assorted gods for. So yeah, Blazers, Spurs, Nuggets, Mavs
Clippers look good on paper but they'll find a way to suck. I feel bad for Houston - they impressed hell out of me last year. New Orleans seems to be disintegrating and the Jazz will be good but not great

Re: Tim Thomas almost a Maverick
I hope Odom goes to the Heat too.
Jazz didn't do anything significant this offseason.
Hornets, adding Okafor, doesn't solve their problem of a dominant scorer in the two-three spot.
Blazers adding Miller might disrupt team chemistry. Although I doubt that. But thats what I'm hoping for.
Mavs have added former shells of players. Nobody in their prime, and nobody who is motivated.
Denver hasn't done anything.
Rockets are obviously not going anywhere next season.
