On the day he signs his 1st NFL contract the Arizona Cardinal's 1st round pick Chris 'Beanie' Wells suffers knee injury in collison at practice and is carted off the field. He has history of knee and ankle injuries... Damn:

Hope it's not serious...If he's still injured when the season starts I wonder who would backup Tim Hightower?

It was actually an ankle injury, which is a little encouraging. Doesn't seem like it's going to be too serious (hopefully). He probably just rolled it.

Who knows ... they might try Steve Breaston, since there's no more J.J. Arrington.

Yep, about all there is to it (pretty boring news).

Nah that wouldn't work, They signed Jason Wright to fill the JJ Arrington type role and for the extra roster spot they'd just use an undrafted rookie or someone like that. There are other backs in camp besides Wells and Hightower.
I'm not really sure how good Wright or any other backs in camp are though.. so good thing it looks like wells will be okay.

Don't think so, I'm sure he'll land somewhere though.

I'm of the opinion that Wells will be very good and was an excellent draft choice. But, I do like Hightower as well. He's a good energy guy that can get you that desperately needed big play.

I'm not sold on either one being an every down back as of yet... I'm just hoping they work well as a tandem. With our passing reputation I'm hoping we can muster a decent running game this season since tams can't stack the box against us. We'll see.

Beanie might very well be the most skilled back in the draft. He was #1 in his recruiting class at that position going into college for good reason. Only thing stopping him is staying healthy, otherwise, all things being equal, he would probably have been picked up at Knowshon's spot.

Agreed, I love the pick. But the health concerns cause me to believe the two back trend in the NFL will be his best friend. Hopefully he can stay healthy enough to be half of a good tandem... and hopefully Hightower keeps up his end.

Plus 'Beanie' dropped 20 lbs since draft day cuz him and Breaston will share kick-off return duties, wouldn't wanna hit that boy at full speed
