Start Pavs, Trade J-Rich?

I know a lot of you are obsessed w/ J-Rich and think he's an all-star but if we trade him for expiring deals we free up $ to max-out Amare and pick-up a great player next summer. Pavlovic is not as flashy as J-Rich but he's bigger, can shoot and is a much better defender and more importantly cheaper. Plus LB would finish the games anyway like he usually does. Either way we're a playoff team imo but let's think a little more about the future rather than thinking we can make a deep run this year

Even the worse team in the league wouldn't start Pavlovic

J-Rich can put up 20 points any given night, grab some rebounds and do some playmaking. I wouldn't be surprised if he made the all-star team this year considering he's in a system that fits him and will play a bigger role.

JASON RICHARDSON IS NOT MAKING THE ALL STAR TEAM plus w/ him gone LB would get tons of playing-time and he's in his prime. I guess the staring lineup isn't as important as who finshes and LB finshes the games

What's more likely is that we use Pavs' contract to entice a team to take on Richardson's deal.

Pavlovic is one of the worst non-layup shooters in the league.

I'm fine with Richardson. It's not that I have resigned myself, but the guy can score and he will up his trade value after a season of SSOL.

No offense to you man, but even though I hate J-Rich there is no way any other team will take him, and Pavs would be Barbosa's backup at SG. And Maryvale there is no way in hell J-Rich makes the all star team in the West. Here is a list of SG's in the West that have a better chance at making the All-Star team over Richardson:

Jason Terry
T-Mac
OJ Mayo
Manu Ginobili
Brandon Roy
Monta Ellis
Eric Gordon
Kobe Bryant
Kevin Martin

Well yeah that's the problem nobody will take him, it's just that Pavs is 6'7" and can defend... I mean our 2 starting guards are Nash and J-Rich, we all know Nash isn't going anywhere and it couldn't hurt for one of them to defend. Plus a lot of teams start a certain player but the back-up gets more time which would be Barbosa anyway.

He's not better than Ginobili. Trust me, I hate Manu just as much as any other suns fan, but let's be honest...

Also, I don't know what you're talking about, Dez. I'd say there are way more J-rich haters on this forum than those who are "obsessed" with him. J-rich is a good shooting guard, he is not worth what we pay him but he worthy of starting on this team.

How many times have we been burnt at the end of games without a true defensive player on the perimeter example X-Mas day and all those times against the Spurs in playoffs. It's frustrating giving up so many buckets in the last minute of games when we really need a stop

LOL I got a good laugh out of this one. A new thread for this when we were all just discussing this in the Big Ben thread would actually merit me copying and pasting my reply from that thread, but I think a simple no will suffice.

Other then the fact this thread is ridiculous, ppl are missing the whole reason we got Pav. He gives us IMMEDIATE cap relief. We don't have to wait a season.

We didn't bring him in for his talent ... we brought him in to save money. We aren't keeping him.

One area I think JRich can really help us out next season is rebounding. I know it sounds crazy to suggest that a SG could help with rebounding but the guy is one of the strongest SG's going around and he could easiliy avg 5 or 6 rpg next season. Even if they were all defensive that would be a massive help to us considering how poor the C/PFs we've got are in terms of rebounding. I really worry guys like Amare/Frye will get abused and we'll be back to the days where teams just beat us up down low.

Part of the reason I wanna see JRich playing a bit more SF next season ... well that and he doesn't have to guard players who are as quick.

  you got it. If not, we're keeping Richardson, and with his current value, I'm fine with that. He's going to tear it up this year.

I'm all in favor of moving JRich for expirings. But if we're going that far for cap relief we might as well buy out Pavs for that little extra. Pavs only value is his partially guaranteed contract. He wasn't brought in as a young talent or to add depth at the SG.

Even IF we moved JRich for expirings, we will NOT be starting Pavs. I could almost guarantee that if we moved JRich we'd bring in another SG to back Barbs if we haven't bought out Pavs yet.

Pavs will not see PT in a Suns uniform.

Oh lilfishi stop spamming the boards with your repeat posts

I don't want to move JRich for expirings, Nash and Hill are too old to be screwing around with money more than we already are. I completely agree about Pavs though, there is absolutely no intention for him to become a rotation player, especially not a #^%$*&^%@#*&$^%#*&^%@$&*%#@*&#$% starter.

Short of buying him out, no way we can unload JRich
Pray for someone on a serious contender to hurt himself before the deadline .... not that we would wish ill fortune on anyone.

We could buy him out .... even that would cost a fortune

I think I would take any one of these players over JRich. I can't imagine what universe you live in.
Some Phil Dickian parallel where the Axis won the war, time runs backwards, clowns read the 6 o'clock news and when you go to a game the arena and all the people fade away and leave you standing there on a flat, dead plain with a scrap of paper that says "basketball game" in your hand.
