Do you support succession for Arizona to leave the union?

Since most Suns fans here are from somewhere in Arizona I'm wondering what you guys think. If our legislature ever gave the state a chance to vote on it would you want to see Arizona leave the union?

Tell us if you support it or not and why you stand by your opinion. Also do you guys think most people in Arizona would be for it or against it?

Also to our global Suns fans, what do you guys outside of the USA think about it?

I don't know how smart that would be. There would have to be huge instability at the federal level, and we have nothing near that. You can "ra ra ra" against the things the federal government is doing, but you undertake a pretty substantial immediate cost by seceding (in terms of needing your own defense and such). You can argue that the money the feds currently take for taxes would make up for it, but certainly not immediately.

You also would probably make it far more difficult for citizens to travel anywhere with the rest of the United States, which is not good for us. And who knows how hostile the United States would be. I certainly don't think they'd be cooperative.

True, it might be difficult for people to travel but if that ever does happen I'm sure people would move out of state if that's voted on and they didn't like the idea.

Obvious troll is obvious.

Moreover, I think the question of whether or not states may secede was answer around 1865.

I'm used to being called names, I'm a libertarian so I get it from both sides of the isle

Not really calling names; Calling it like I see it.

I mean -- I see it as one of those posts where someone uses the ESPN trade machine to get Amare, Lebron, Kobe, Nash, and Rudy Gay onto the Suns. It just ... ain't happening.

Also, the 'Obama as Joker' thing isn't doing you favors in my mind (actually, any oversimplification and/or straw man gets on my nerve, left or right or middle). The Louie sig is saving you, though.

This thread advertises its fail from afar with a misspelled title. Of course, within it remains true to its cover.

Sorry that the "War of Northern Aggression" didn't work out, guess these 50 colonies are probably in it for the long haul.

You know Obama already has added more debt than Bush did his whole 8 years in office?

It's a hypothetical situation, just wondering what most Suns fans thought about it

obama is just a pawn on the board anyways. we're a nation run by invisible bankers and he's just a (smooth) talking head that they can use to distract people from things that are really going on. i mean... it was ridiculously blatant with the bail-out about who's really benefiting from obama in office. not like mccain would be any better. we need to get legitimately equal 3rd, 4th, etc political parties and to do away with the federal reserve if we ever want to stop going down the slippery slope we're on.

Agreed, it's a shame people voted for the lesser of two evils when they were so many other candidates out there.

The fix is every bit the responsibility of the people who did the wrecking.

Update: The Fed just adjusted their rates today, indicating they think things are turning around. Unemployment numbers are better than expected (bad, but not terrifyingly bad anymore), and there's another year and a half of the stimulus bill's funds haven't even been spent yet. History will debate whether it was too much money, or not enough, or whatever, but it's hard to argue against results.

Anyway, posting the notion of AZ leaving the union. I reiterate would never happen, would be antithetical to the very name of our nation, and I would speculate is somehow related to that dolt Texan who proposed the idea - well, I doubt there's much convincing you to consider both sides of the stimulus and/or the healthcare debate. I say we stop and let the board be a sports board.

Yeah I'm not blaming this on just Obama, it's both sides of the isle. Most Republicans have been just as bad as the Democrats reguarding tax and spend policies. Nothing wrong with having a debate about it right?

With everything that’s going on with the government and everything that’s not going on with the Suns this off-season, I can understand why we have political subject on this board. Dallas, the Lakers, the Spurs, the Celtics and I know I'm missing a lot more - all got significantly better this off season, while the Suns are twiddling their thumbs.

A Dallas Fan friend of mine asked if I was getting excited for the season to start. I told him if the Matix was a Sun and not a Mav I would be a lot more excited for the season. My only hope this year is that we don't have to give a good pick to the Thunder next off season (it would make our front office look even more stupid then they have proven to be).

I'm wishing that Obama taxes $arver so much that he is forced to go bankrupt and sell the Suns to a real owner.
