Sasha Pavlovic

Why don't the suns just keep Sasha Pavlovic. They say that they are going to compete this year and you have to spend money if you are going to compete, so why not just keep him. He's a excellent shooter, good defender and i think he fits perfectly in the suns system. Oh yeah they need a center too.

He's not a good shooter.

He has been one of the (and one year THE) worst in terms of FG% on non-layups.

Package him to a team that would take on J-Rich. Since that won't likely happen, waive him and sign another big.

"The Suns still plan to waive Sasha Pavlovic, who they acquired in the Shaquille O'Neal trade with the Cavaliers back in June.

Doing so will save Phoenix $6.9 million in non-guaranteed salary and luxury tax. Pavlovic's agent, Marc Cornstein, says that teams are interested in his client.

"This isn't a panic," Cornstein said. "He does have a contract. We can afford to be patient and find the best possible situation.

"We've had good communication all summer. I feel very comfortable with the position Phoenix has taken."

The fact that he hasn't been waved already means that they are still looking at what opportunities might be out there for his contract. If they just wanted the money they would have waived him already and been done with it. They are waiting to see if there are any more teams looking for him before the season starts. It certainly doesn't look like he is going to be in camp, though.

That is exactly what I was going to say. Just like his agent has said before, they have the green light to look for a team that will take him and then they will explore S&T possibilities with that team. If there is nothing there then they will waive him. If it was a done deal that they are going to waive him without trying to see what they can get for him first, they would have done it already just like the Wallace buy out.

Suns are a lock for the playoffs. Likely 5th or 6th seed. Anyone who says diff is clueless...

I think we're around 7/8 again

LAL
DAL
SA

Are the clear top 3. After that, POR, UTA, NOR and DEN should duke it out, and we'll be battling with LAC and OK (if they play to potential) for #8. I don't see HOU making it unless Yao plays the 2nd half. Ariza's their best player? Brooks? Scola? Eek.

Okafor's a big step up from Chandler, defensively and offensively

I really think they sold Butler for a RIDICULOUSLY cheap deal. Surely the Suns could have offered them a 2nd?

Defensively Okafor is a BIG step up from chandler but i think chandler and okafor are pretty much on the same level offensively

I say thats the other way around. When healthy Chandleer has similar defence to Okafor, but is not as talented offensively. Paul will make Okafor look great offensively.

I also have the sneakign suspicion that HOU will make the playoffs. This has been one of the most consistant teams throughout the years despite all their injuries. This will be the first year of having Yao and TMAC out, but they signed a new center form Australia, maybe he will work out as well as Scola did. The chemistry on that team is great, they traded away guys like Alston just to keep their good chemistry, and they also have a ton of great team players like Battier, Laundry, Scola and now Ariza. Brooks will probably step up big this year offensively for them too, and who knows maybe TMAC will actually make a comeback.

I still say the suns make the playoffs, probably 6-8 seed. LA, SA, DAL, Denver and Portland are locks IMO. And The Clippers, New Orleans, Houston and PHX will fight for the remaining spots. OKC, Memphis and Minnesota will still suck. If there is a team that could reach its potential this year, its Golden State with Randolph, Morrow, Curry and a healthy Ellis. If GS plays well i could see them contending for the 6-8 seed as well.

Tyson Chandler is damaged goods. If our training team thinks he's done then he's done... MJ and the Bobcats got owned in that deal, and if it wasn't for getting Jared Dudley they would've owned us too. As for Pavs i think should stay and play SG, trade J-Rich's enormous contract so we make room to resign Amare and get another good player for 2011. Oh nevermind i forgot who our owner is :banghead:

I think we should hold on to J-Rich until at least the trade deadline. Maybe by then he will have inflated his stats enough to have some trade value. And theres still no reason we should keep Pavs. If its gonna cost 6.9 million in luxury tax to keep him then forget it. I would rather see Tucker out there. If we cant get anything of value for him then just waive him and save the cash.

I don't see much in HOU. Other than a good coach and a couple of good team guys they just don't look real intimidating and also other than Brooks they have no one that can create offense for themselves. LAC has more talent on paper and the only thing HOU has over LAC is good team chemistry and a good coach.

DAL, LAL, SAS are easily the top 3. If DEN can keep up their good team play, they should battle POR for 4th. 6-7 would go to UTA and NOH I would think. There's a chance UTA won't make playoffs but I think they have a good enough team and kept virtually the same core of guys together (they played well without Boozer).

So it's 8th spot, and at best a 7th spot for us. The Warriors looks alright as well. Randolph was beasting in the SL and if they play well together, they could be 8th. IMO we're about as good as the Warriors atm, which is sad.

Thunder could make some noise during the regular season, they have a nice young group of guys and it's just a matter of gaining more experience and learning to play with each other.
