Next seasons front court lineup

Post#1 » by MaryvalesFinest » Thu Aug 20, 2009 6:31 am

So what's the starting C/PF combination most likely going to look like when the season starts?

1)C-Amare
PF-Frye

2)C-Frye
PF-Amare

3)C-Amare
PF-Lopez

4)C-Lopez
PF-Amare

I'm going with #2 since Amare likes to play PF and Frye is more experienced than Lopez

What do you guys think?

Channing Frye is our 'starting center' -- He's a little taller with a longer reach and can run the floor, nice jumper and can clear up the paint for Amare, hopefully he puts on some weight... Amare's never had a 'center' that can shoot and create space, his ppg should blow up

if frye is our starting center, then every other starting center in the league's eyes just lit up. they lit up like every big man is gonna light up our "defense" in the frontcourt. it's ridiculous that the suns front office continues to think a legit center is not important. haven't they learned from the past 5-6 years?

I agree, i think we'll be a below average defensive team as usual and maybe the worst rebounding team in the league. Lopez is our best defensive big-man but i think CF gets the nod because his experience. I think our FO's plan is to get a cheap center who can shoot for 2 years before RoLo developes and takes over. Even though Rolo looked awful at times he can be decent in a few years plus he's huge. It will be interesting to see how CF plays this year, who knows maybe he'll surprise us

If anyone has earned the start next to Amare, it's sweet Lou.

He doesn't have to play big minutes, just provide early energy and rebounding to establish the tempo.

He's more agile than Lopez and a better rebounder/ defender than Frye - basically he'll give you the most defensively without sacrificing the most offensively.

funny thing is that lou defended tim duncan better than anyone else on teh suns last year. i'd love to see him get a bigger role on the team. offensively he'd just stand around the rim waiting to dunk from a nash pass.

They really should have traded for Tyson Chandler who would have been PERFECT for the Suns.

Nash
J-Rich
Hill
Amare
Chandler

Would have been a GREAT team.

They'll start

Frye
Amare
Hill

With Frye 'attempting' to guard the opposing C, and Lopez coming in as soon as he's in foul trouble

Oh man, you don't want to say that in Maryvale's thread... LOL! Amare is gonna start at PF, and Lou is too small to start at Center

I think Frye will get the starting position at center, but there are a lot of combinations we could throw in there off the bench, when Amare comes out we could have Lopez at C & Frye at PF, or Lou at Center & Frye at PF, or vice versa, pretty much all of our big men except Earl Clark can be a PF or a C in the SSOL system.
