TV Program Alert: Suns Special This Friday on Fox Sports

Post#1 » by The Diesel » Tue Aug 25, 2009 9:01 am

Hey guys,

I found this on the Suns official website:

If serious basketball withdrawals are starting to get to you, check out My45 this Tuesday night for a Suns doubleheader, starting at 9 p.m.

First up is the “Suns’ Sizzling Summer Special.” Host Tom Leander sits down with team President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Steve Kerr to discuss the “State of the Suns,” including the re-signing of Steve Nash and Grant Hill, the acquisition of free agent Channing Frye, the return of Head Coach Alvin Gentry and the drafting of Earl Clark and Taylor Griffin. Also featured, Eddie Johnson talks to All-Star Amar’e Stoudemire about coming back from a devastating eye injury and returning as the focal point in the Suns offense. Second-year man Goran Dragic walks us through the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. And then, EJ and Tom preview this year’s Suns squad and discuss all of the big changes around the NBA.

Next up is the “Making of the Suns Dancers” at 9:30 p.m., chronicling the hectic week endured by the dancer hopefuls. It includes a behind-the-scenes look at the two-day dancer auditions, the lengthy selection process and four off-the-court finalist profiles.

If you miss Tuesday’s telecasts (or just love watching repeats), the specials will re-air on Fox Sports Arizona in HD starting this Friday at 5 p.m.

Thanks - no joy for us outside the state, but I'm sure we can find it somewhere on the internets

Don't worry JV, Tucson doesn't get MY45 either so it's not only those outside the state left joyless.

I have the channel, but will I watch it? Probably not. It will more then likely just be an interview where Kerr says we are going to do serious damage in the West only to fall short of the playoffs during the season.

If anyone saw it, can you please post a recap?

Thanks.

I watched it.

Kerr said Shaq trade was a mistake and it was "my bad"
Amare said "my eye is better and i'm ready to go"
Eddie Johnson said "we will make the playoffs as long as we don't have any injuries"

That's about it.

Boring right? I thought so.

Kerr just talked about the new additions, each player individually, Frye, Clark, Griffin; he talked about resigning Hill & Nash; He talked about the development of Lopez & Dragic, basically the same stuff he's said throughout the summer.

In addition to what Get Nashty said, they did a showcase on Goran Dragic, and his development in the summer league, and showed a bunch of good highlights.

Also, aparently Amare wanted to make it clear that no one, especially eddie johnson will ever understand what it's like to go through his laying face down on a massage table/chair for 22 hours a day for 10 days straight... it was funny because he was like "no EJ, I don't think you understand..."

The other funny thing was that all the highlight reals they ran throughout the show were mostly the highlights in all of our fantastic sigs that Kerrsed made us, LOL!

Austin,

And Kerr admitted that the Shaq trade was a mistake on the program?

What brought up Shaq during the program?

Thanks.

Yeah, from what I remember, he said that the shaq experiment didn't work out like he'd hoped, and that there was no reason to keep a $20million contract on the books if it wasn't working out.

what kerr said was "we took a chance, and it didnt work our". He didnt say mistake, and then he said it wasnt working out after that and there was no need to keep a 20 million dollar player in that situation. He at no time said Mistake!, and i agree with him. At the time it seemed a legit big man was all we needed, Marion was acting like a little BIACH!! and grant hill was looking like he could take marions place without a problem and fill that role, why not take the chance. Like he said it didnt work, grant got hurt just before the playoffs, duncan hit a mindblowing 3 to extend the first game, Dantoni refused to adjust to the hack a shaq or any game tactics for that matter or play the friggin bench, and it didnt work. I dont blame kerr for trying. On paper it looked like it should work.

I'll bump this thread as a reminder to everyone that there will be a re-run of this special tonight in-case anyone missed the program on Tuesday.
