Grant Hill the greatest ever to never see the 2nd round?

As we look back on Grant Hill's ultra disappointing career compared to what it could've been, we still have to credit him as possibly the greatest NBA star that will never see a second round playoff series.

Agree?

I'd say T-Mac... In his prime w/ Orlando he was the best player in the game, now he's a fading memory

As we look back on your ultra disappointing life compared to what it could've been, we still have to credit you as possibly one the most dumbest poster on realgm.com that will never see another post on the Suns board.

Agree?

Never seen the second round? What are you saying? Once his team is eliminated he goes into voluntary blindness? Wait, I'm pretty sure he commentated as special comments on last years NBA Finals so I am sure he has seen the second round.

Best player not to get out of the first round? I can live with that, but as someone has mentioned there could be an argument made for McGrady and I am sure there would be a couple of others out there.

Ultra disappointing career?

2 Time NCAA Champion
Named First Team All American & ACC Player Of The Year
Won Henry Iba Award (Best Defensive Player)
Rookie Of The Year
Lead All-Star Voting As A Rookie (First Ever)
7 Time All-Star

Need I go on? Ultra disappointing indeed.

What are we doing with this 'Jinx' on this team? I too, never realized GH has not progressed out of the 1st round. To be fair, during his yrs in Detroit*, they really didn't have much talent on those teams... and in Orlando, his injuries limited his contribution. Here, it has been bad luck as much as anything.

The poster's question is valid, and for now, I say yes......

but, as effectively pointed out, his description of Hill's career is an egregious error.

* Alvin Gentry was the head coach for a few yrs

Forgetting for a moment that Hill hasn't played a playoff game beyond the first round, what I find incredible is that he is not like every other ego-centric NBA player who flocks to LA or BOS during the twilight of their careers so that they can "contribute" to a championship team.

Hill said he was either staying in PHX or retiring. The man kept his word which seems to be increasingly rare.

As far as his career is concerned:

Those highlights are from a sliver of the mans career... think about that. He has a better highlight reel than guys who have played full careers... Period. End of Story.

He did come here to fight for a Championship initially. However, there still is a distinct difference. He wants to "contribute", not just be a towel waver. I have actually heard him say in interviews that he doesn't want to be like Carr (ex Boston towel waver) and collect his cheque and ring while not contributing. Remember, he had an offer from Boston earlier this off season and decided to return as he didn't want to sit on the bench.

You wouldn't describe his career as disappointing? Disappointing is a relative term; obviously he has had a very good career, but had he not gotten hurt, it could've been even better.

Sure his career could have been better had he not been injured. BUT, you seriously want to tell me that a 7 time All-Star had a disappointing career? The only thing disappointing in his career is that he got injured, much like Penny.
