OT: Sessions to the Wolves???

Seriously, does GM David Kahn have a gay crush on point guards? They own the NBA rights to Ricky Rubio, they drafted Jonny Flynn, they have Chucky Atkins hanging around as a backup, and now they sign Ramon Sessions to an offer sheet. I don't get what the plan is, except to possibly steal as many talented young point guards from the pool as possible.

Yeah that's crazy but not as crazy as trading OJ Mayo for Kevin Love anyway...

Eh, I don't mind that so much, and that was Kevin McHale, not Kahn. Kevin Love is a very underrated player. He won't be the star O.J. Mayo will, but I think Love will be a good player.

I think the Sessions move makes some sense, it obviously coincides with getting the final word on Rubio being 2-3 years out.

The offer sheet is 4 years, for 16 mil. That's a lot to pay for a backup. Sessions is starting quality anyway.

I wanted Flynn on this team so bad, we'd be so fast and wouldn't get destroyed by opposing PG's... Damn

Flynn may be quicker than Nash, but he would get abused the exact same way. He's simply not big enough to stop a Deron Williams / Derrick Rose type PG.

Good point - I never looked at the details of the offer sheet. Still, that gives you great depth at the 1 spot for what I'm sure will be 3 years before Rubio comes over. Then say Rubio gets here after 2 or 3 seasons - moving Sessions with what, 4-5 mil contract at that point in his career, now that's a hot commodity. You swap out your PG's and have some great trade bait.

well, at least 4 years from now we can watch as the wolves try to juggle ricky rubio, johnny flynn, and sessions into just one spot... and probably someone else- like another point gaurd kahn drafts at #8 or so next year... i wouldnt be surprised.

Minnesota isn't looking to keep sessions for a long term, they're signing him to compensate for Rubio staying in Spain... once Rubio comes, look out for minny to trade Sessions, i hope the suns are in on that!

they will still have to juggle them at some point tho. based on how much attention sessions got in the offseason, it will be infinitly hard to make sure they have the point gaurds they want by the time they finally fix the Rubio situation.

i obviously know that they dont want to keep him long term...

I don't get what the Knicks are thinking - for $4 mil, Sessions would be great for them.

I'd take a small and quick PG over a small and slow PG, defensively that is...

You would think that the 4th year would have o be a PO, surely? That way he could opt out for more $ when Rubio arrives...

It is a PO, you are correct.
