The State of Valley Sports...

Man, valley sports suck right now. isnt it sad how in the last few years each of the valley sports teams have come so close, gotten us excited, and then crushed all of our expectations.
AZ dbacks: in 2008, we reached the playoffs ,got to the NLCS, and lost to the colorado rockies, who lost the world series. if only we had won one of those two games vs. the rockies at the end of the regular season, then we couldve eliminated them, and let the padres get in to lose to the phils, we beat them, and we (probably) lose to the BoSox, but at least we got there. Now we are at the bottom of the NL West with only Mark Reynolds and J-Up to supply us with entertainment... darn.
PHX suns: i dont think this one needs to be explained, other than:
http://howtowatchsports.com/2009/09/the ... he-stupid/http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/st ... ons/080501our pain can be descibed in those two links. long story short: the suns were great, we should have won the championship (thanks to david stern, joe johnson, steve kerr, and robert sarver, we didint), and now we are a lottery team.
AZ cardinals: its early, but the cardinals SUCKED on sunday. plain and simple. super bowl runner ups to losing to the 49ers. dangit.
coyotes: no explanation needed.
and we were all so close...

Cards will be fine for a few years, Kurt has 1 more year left after this season and then Leinart should be the guy if he decides to stay. Offensively their set at QB, RB and WR for the next few years but i'm worried about the defense. Dansby will prob be gone along w/ Docket although A-Dub is locked up and DRC is young.
Call me crazy but the D-Backs are probably the future of AZ sports teams in terms of making deep post-season runs. Upton and Reynolds are young and talented and could be the future Bash Bros (Clean Version). We have an above average pitching staff when healthy although B-Webb is a huge concern. Haren struggles in the 2nd half but is a legit ace. Webb, Davis, Sherzer and Parker are solid and i'm expecting big things from the bullpen next year. Bottom line is this team has 2 great young players who can be built around. Just 2 years ago they won the division and could get back as soon as next year.
Suns are probably the worst off, instead of blowing up a team that is a 6 or 7 seed at best we keep Nash who is way past his prime and could've gotten valuable young talent for him. Amare is a huge ? mark, who knows if he'll return to his regular playing ability and whether he stays in PHX or not. The Suns will probably be a regular lottery team within the next few years
To find Arizona's next sports dynasty drive about 2 hours south to Tucson where coach Sean Miller is building a monster. It's been a while since we've been to the Final 4 and won a championship but soon we'll go back to dominating like the good ole days of Lute Olson, Mike Bibby, Jason Terry, Luke Walton, Andre Igoudala, Sean Elliot, Richard Jefferson and Gilbert Arenas.
As for ASU sports and the Phoenix Coyotes, they have no hope and should dissapoint this town as usual... Have a good night

I would break it down like this
Suns: They are still a talented team and have enough talent to make the playoffs, not championship caliber but still with the lineup they have now one of the better teams in the league. Going to have some caproom next season and can improve on that even more.
Diamondbacks: Made even worst decisions than Suns management I would say, trading away Quentin and giving Byrnes that huge deal? His show is better than his game

. I do like alot of the young talent the Diamondbacks have though like Justin Upton and Branden Allen.
Cardinals: Just made the superbowl last year, would be great if they do it again but they have the best WR in the league in Fitzgerald and probably the most underated player in the draft in Beanie Wells so they should be fun to watch.
Coyotes: Chances are their moving but that's because of bad luck. If they would have made the playoffs these past few years they wouldn't have been talking about moving.

Dback's: it was 2007 when they reached the nlcs... The future has its bright spots w/ Harren and Scherzer in the rotation (Looks like Webb may be gone after this season). Upton is a Superstar in Waiting, Reynolds has a chance to be one as well and Montero looks like he can be the best offensive catcher in the league someday soon. Drew is a much better hitter than he has displayed this season(thanks to injuries) and he is solid defensively. Parra & Allen look like they can contribute as well. Hopefully Young and/or Connor can get back to where they were in 07.
The bullpen has a ton of good young arms, we'll see how many develop.
Byrnes contracts is off the books in after '10, tracey has a 7m club option for '10 (no way we pick that up, 1m buyout), i really hope they pick up webbs option, but if they dont hopefully we'll spend some of the money on locking up upton, drew & reynolds and signing a solid #2 starter. Maybe trade Snyder and give montero the full time job.
I like the direction of the team, hopefully we can hold on to our young talent and sign some key veterans.

dangit, i forgot about colleges. being an ASU fan, its hard to say anything bad against them, but ther football sucks, and ther baskeetball is going to be questionable, but their baseball/softball is always good, if not great.
i hate UofA, so i am not the person to judge them, i am to biased.

oh yeah the Cards lost to the 49ers, but I think the 49ers will be good this year. Singletary has them playing good.

Yeah the niners are starting to take after their coach and play tough, bad news for cards fans because those are the type of teams we struggle against most. Also, we really needed that game since The jags are a bad matchup and the colts are still the colts. 0-3 looks like a possibility unfortunately.
Don't get me wrong, I still think we can win both games, but they're gonna have to start playing better (says captain obvious).
Good news is that our division is still weak and winnable even if we start 0-3.

Nah they won't deal Haren this offseason, they signed him to a reasonable extension last season. He'll be here a while.
