Suns Special: STARTERS

Did anyone catch the suns special on ABC?

the segment w/ gentry was really cool, and he "officially" revealed our starters: nash, jrich, hill, amare, and CHANNING FRYE

he said a couple of times, very specifically: "amare is our 4 guy" or "he is slotted at the 4". apparently, he is very confident with amare playing mostly power forward this season, and with frye playing the 5. he also said that frye's jump shot will be important on a lot of plays, with an amare/nash pick and roll and a kick out to frye. two of the plays he mentioned ended with "and amare will finish it off with a dunk".

he talked about some other stuff too:

earl clark: he said he was really a 3 (small forward), but in our system, he is a 4.
griffin: has to adapt to being a 3; could have a "great" career
dragic: worked on his jumper alot, really confident, great asset
rolo: he will hugely benefit from more playing time

it was a cool special, really nice.

C-Frye/Lopez
PF-Amare/Clark/Amundson
SF-Hill/Dudley/Griffin
SG-J-Rich/Barbosa/Tucker
PG-Nash/Dragic

Not a championship team but definately a playoff team

Wonder if it will end up on suns.com?

Frye is the most logical option next to Amare for now, but I won't be surprised if 1 of Clark/Dudley/Lou beat him out for the starting job eventually.

Earl Clark playing PF a la Marion/Diaw makes sense.

I hope he got his Griffins mixed up when he said "could have a great career"

Clark getting the Marion treatment. I wonder if it will work well on D.

This is definitely a championship competing team. Why play if not going for everything? You're so lame. :(

We have a great lineup.

I declare you our resident Suns optimist. It's your job to keep our heads up whenever we're feeling down about the team, deal?

I thought it was obvious when we signed Frye that he'd be a starter

If this is a title contender, I'll eat my hat, lol.

They should, however, be quite fun to watch.

I think it is a smart thing to start frye. I like the liine up and depth. I think we have so many guys that can play diferent positions that it is insaine.

Have you guys seen the clip of Nash dishing out 21 assist in 1 game..? It was crazy how open guys were when Nash penetrated. Nash hit Diaw and Kurt Thomas multiple times, and it was effective because those guys can shoot the mid-range shot. What I'm getting at is, I believe Channing Frye and Earl Clark can fill in the roles of those guys offensively. If Frye starts all season he might be in the top five in MIP award. I want to believe its Dudley, but Dudley simply won't get the opportunity to play as much as Frye.
08-09 Frye 4.2ppg, 2.2rpg, 0.4apg, 11.8mpg
09-10 Frye 11ppg, 6rpg, 1.3apg, 28mpg

Frye will probably get about 7-10 shots per game.

Listen, we are going to have match-up problems on defense, that's nothing new to us.

But who can gaurd a Stoudemire/Frye frontcourt? I mean who do you put your C on? Both guys can hit with range, and I don't think you're going to see a whole lot of legit centers stepping out to the perimeter. We might see Frye (hopefully not, but most like Stoudemire as well) in foul trouble frequently, but we have fouls to burn with Lopez and Clark.

Also, we'll be seeing more of our PNR which is going to be a breath of fresh air since we are the best in the league at it.

Darn, i want to see this special now... I forgot to record it :(

this team is going to do very well this season, as long as we don't have key injuries. Health is very important!
