Clark or Amundson?
Gentry has already come out and disclosed his starters to the media. He said Frye will mainly be the center: Frye, Amare, Hill, JRich, Nash.
Gentry also said that Clark will predominantly play and be a Suns power forward.
That said, Suns will have 2 guys fighting to be the backup to power forward Amare.
Who will it be? Clark or Amundson?
I vote for Clark.

And on a side note - it'd be amazing if Clark came out and became the rookie of the year.
Kerr would definitely redeem himself if this were the case...

Definitely Clark!!!! Lou can play the 5 though too, if Lopez isn't producing.

Re: Clark or Amundson?
yeah, Clark should definitly have the job, but it better not be outright. Lou should start with the job, and it should be his to lose, with Clark being the ultimate minute taker.
i don't really understand this tho- if frye is aboard for a couple more years, and the suns are assuming that Fropez is our center of the future, and Amare is obviously our PF of the future (barring injury/leaving as a FA), then why did we draft another PF? it doesnt really make sense... what is Gentry saying? will Clark take place of Amare, or Lopez, or will he move to SF.

Amare isn't necessarily our PF of the future. I'd like him to be, but it's still unknown on whether we extend him or not.

I see Lopez being bumped out of the rotation and having Clark play PF and Amundson playing Center.

You guys really need to relax on the EC expectations, he was a good player in college and could be a decent pro. Just cuz we drafted him doesn't mean he's an automatic contributer this year, look at our draft history under Kerr. But hey if your right i'll be thrilled

i understand this, but i am simply raising the question of Clark's future position on the Suns, and of the Suns frontcourt options in the future, and the likelihood of those options. and whatever gentry seems to think- is he implying something, or was this just a mistake?

Re: Clark or Amundson?
Clark will have to work his way into the rotation. I'd like him to play the 3 and 4 at times. It'll help his game a lot if he develops the skills of a 3 while working on his post game.
I still think Amundson deserves playing time because he's worked his ass off to get playing time. Not only has he earned the playing time, he was productive last season with the minutes he got.
Gotta keep in mind, Clark is suppose to be a project as well and was suppose to be brought along slowly.

i definitely don't see Lou playing the 5 spot... hes undersized and although he can get boards, he'l have trouble playing against other average centers.
but i think Lou will get the spot for backup PF. clark is still a rookie and although alvin said he'll be playing PF, i dont think he can do too well in that.. i see him as a SF mainly because he doesnt have the body to play at a PF position

Re: Clark or Amundson?
Considering Clark is supposed to be a good defender I don't see why they can't be in the game at the same time. We don't really have a center in there when we go small so I expect them both to get minutes. Hopefully Clark will earn more and more playing time as the season progresses. That also goes for Lopez.
I don't really have too high expectations for any of our 1st and 2nd year players. First and foremost I expect Dudley to be solid. Then I hope to see Dragic and Clark earn regular PT.
Anyhow it's going to be interesting to see how the SSOL style works this year. With a healthy team we should win a fair amount of games. It depends a bit on the outside shooting. I hope it will be enough to get us into the playoffs so the UNPROTECTED
1st round pick won't be in the lottery.
Also looking forward to seeing our youth movement and how they handle Amare's extension. Coach Gentry better not be afraid to let them make mistakes out there as do other teams.

Re: Clark or Amundson?
What about Amar'e playing C and eventually having Clark (if he is legit) play PF?
EDIT: Then we have our future C as well as future PF.

Re: Clark or Amundson?
Here's how I see the situation playing out:
Lou will get the nod over Clark at the back up PF position initially, Lopez will play himself out of the rotation. Clark will work his way past Lou as the season progresses (greatly due to his shooting, passing, and ability to hit free throws, something that makes Lou a guy you can't have in the game in the 4th quarter)
By the end of the year, I forsee a 3 man rotation at PF/C, with Amare and Frye splitting time at C, and Clark getting 15-20 minutes a night at PF, Dudley getting a few minutes at PF when match ups allow. (against smaller PFs like David West and Antawn Jamison, for example), and Lou getting the a few minutes per game (~5) all in the 2nd quarter.

Clark will spend time at the 3 and the 4. Gentry was referring to the fact that Clark can be a power forward in our system. Gentry also talked about Amare being our Power forward as well, so I am sure there will be stints during games where Clark, Amare and Frye are all on the floor together.

Re: Clark or Amundson?
Stories in Canadian media have Dave Love, a shooting coach who runs camps up here, being hired as Sweet Lou's shooting coach. That's a good sign - I would think Nash had something to do with the hiring. he would know Dave from his involvement in basketball Canada.

Why would Clark only average 8 minutes? He spent 3 years in school, is already a good defender and rebounder and he is versatile in what position he can play. I think he'll definately see time on a team trying to get younger and more athletic again. Chances are this team won't be contending so they'd be stupid not to play a player that's going to be part of the future.
I think Clark will get good time this year. This team has no big men outside of Amare that would be in the rotation on every other team (although I think Frye will get there).
