http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawakami/2 ... aft-night/ "I’m told Nelson did not speak much during the dinner with Ellis. But Riley told Ellis forcefully that another No. 1 pick rookie probably wouldn’t contribute much to the upcoming season and that the Warriors had a few things brewing to acquire an established frontcourt player.
Someone like Amare Stoudemire, I presume."
"So… The Warriors on draft night ended up coming very close to trading for Stoudemire–EXACTLY who Jackson and Ellis wanted–but the deal never happened.
Reportedly, Nelson was surprised Curry lasted to their 7th pick and refused to include Curry to Phoenix in the deal. I think that’s only part of the reason the deal fell through (Amare’s strong lack of desire to play for the Warriors probably was a bigger reason), but it definitely perked the ears of Ellis and Jackson.
This did not please Ellis. Or Jackson. We’re seeing the results."

I'm sorry but...is this really news? I already assumed nonths ago that the reason the deal fell through was that GS was surprised to get Curry and wanted to hold on to him...

Doesn't seem like anything new that couldn't be worked out from what came out previously.

Well that's why news is news and assumptions are assumptions...just to be a smart ass
Wanted to share the first legit article I read about the situation, as opposed to hearsay. I also had not put two & two together on Monta & Jackson's unhappiness...makes a lot more sense with the additional details

I just don't understand why GS is so hot for Curry when isn't going to make up for any deficiencies they have.

They have a surplus of undersized guards, so draft another, lower your public image, create locker room drama, fail to improve your team in the offseason, and decrease the value of your franchise.
Like you legendary losers could come up with a better idea!

Biggest deficiency is passing tho... ball-stopping was junking up Nellie's game.

I can see Mr. Sun's point though. Curry's not a traditional pass first PG, but when you consider GSW has a roster full of shot takers and no passers, he's probably your Steve Nash. He had a pretty poor shooting game in the first preseason game, but his passing was excellent. It'll be a shame if Nellie doesn't try and mold him into a more pass-first PG.

It's all about BPA in the draft.
Just a heads up Suns fans. The guy your using as your truth finder (Tim Kawakami) is a big time hack reporter in the Bay Area. Not sure you'd wanna use him as a guy who's being touted as bringing facts to the table.

It dont matter, its a dead issue. Everyone here is happy the trade didnt go down, and ours has less respect for you Golden County fans for all the little girl crap you talked during the process. Now we seem to have a rivalry. Your fans dont believe our view of how it transpired, and our fans dont agree with or like your fans. Dont wory about our sources, dont even wory about what we think, it dont matter. Both sides are happy that the trade didnt go down, no one will doubt that, its the little sidebar S#!t talk during, that has us even talking right now. The trade didnt go down, dont worry about our feelings, and mind yo business. Warn your board about its teams business, dont worry about mine PLAYA!!!

By the way, most of the real world sane fans, have moved on. Wether we feel like g.s. front office duped ours or not, most are happy to still have Amare, wether we extend or trade him, no one wants him traded to a team in the west so he can kill us multiple times every year. The fact that some fans keep bringing it up, there are also posts on former team members who they want back, and actual responses like yeah get it done, you cant judge a whole board on the few people who cant move on. As for the rest of us, we are happy with the team make up, and are looking fwd to the season, not predicting anything, just want to watch the team run and gun with Amare, and then decide from there.
