Gentry Told Curry They Wanted Him A Sun

Post#1 » by toucansma » Mon Oct 12, 2009 12:46 am

Obviously this is second hand talk from Curry and probably was not meant for the media but thought this was telling:

http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/ar ... notes.html

Curry said he did not know of the talks then.

"I do now after talking to Coach Gentry," Curry said. "He told me they really wanted me to be in a Suns uniform and tried to work out a deal. That's how the draft works. It's unpredictable."

I am surprised he told Curry that. I wonder if that impacts Amare/Earl Clark at all? However it is a business so they should not be surprised. What do you all think?

Well Clark wasn't included in the trade for Curry so it shouldn't affect him. Amare...who cares.

That's a slap in the face to Amare, not only is he the Suns best player but he's the heart and soul of this team. I don't remember Terry Porter even saying or doing anything as stupid as that...Not to mention Gentry isn't a real coach, Nash has all the control over him Gentry is his yes man.

It seems like Suns management, the coaches and alot of fans are doing everything in their power to get Amare to leave, don't worry I have a feeling he will be gone whether he's traded or walks and everyone that wanted him gone can be happy the Suns franchise player is a 40 year old washed up point guard.

I have not thought for quite a while that the odds of Amare staying beyond this year are greater than 10%. So I don't really care how he feels anymore. He will put up his numbers to get his contract, and hopefully we make the playoffs in the process.

Might have just been a "good game, wish you were on our team" kind of thing, but yeah not a good move by Gentry. Amare deserves better.

Amare was the centerpiece of the trade. That is saying we want Curry over Amare (or you could infer that).

I don't agree with that Maryvale. Have you listened to Gentry at practice or in games? Just because he runs a free flowing offense, doesn't mean he doesn't have a handle on the team. He treats them like men but expects a lot.

I don't think fans want Amare to go. Nash won't be a 40 year old washed up pointed guard either. Marbury might be though :)

hopefully Amare improves from last game and comes back healthy. I'm assuming he will the guy is resilient can't knock the injuries he's had he always comes back from them.

I was actually slightly impressed with his post D on randolph this last game. It seemed in the first quarter the whole team was communicating on defense and really were on the same page. That was fun to watch.

Nash unfortunately is going downhill. He's not the same Nash but we've been spoiled these last few years seeing this guy do what he does best on the floor.

His pull up jumpers are missing now when they seemingly used to be all makes even "swishes". I still think he'll be a dang good point guard for us though this year.

Can't wait to start the regular season.

First game back, he was still sick and was outdoors. He has never really played great in pre season. He worries more about new players more than him in preseason. Wait till reg season to see how he is first.

Whatever. Deal wasn't done, let's move on.

More fuel for Amare's fire this season.

toucansam I'm not judging this off the preseason game that we just played I"m a smarter fan than that. I know this team inside and out and where each player likes to take their shots almost everything about this team.

Rewatch some games from last year. Nash was so clutch from 2005-2007 and even a little 2008. Last year he wasn't as clutch. It was like his aura of invincibility was gone he was human. I remember he used to hit every big shot he used to run off the screen and roll and take a running 3 pointer or fadeaway and it would swish every time.

Obviously everyone deteriorates in their game and Nash has some.

It's okay though he'll still be good enough to get the job done this season.

and yet another mountainish molehill has surfaced....

who GIVES A CRAP about a casual conversation Gentry had with Curry...

If it hurts Amare's feelings then he truly is a candy ass prima dona. Stat has said it himself... this is a business, and he followed that with he 'will do what is best for Amare' (or what ever nickname he was wearing that day)

And wise up MaryV. Stop with the Nash hate... we get it... Just remember, its a business... and the business owners decided Nash is a more marketable face for this franchise than Sun-Who . That doesn't mean they won't resign him... And just because you got comfortable nestled up in Amare's asscheeks doesn't mean you can't poke your head out occasionally and enjoy yourself. This should be a good entertaining season, with both our aging yet durable, one dimensional, pretty boy point guard, and our ever changing, evolving, oft injured, perpetual defensive student... (and offensive juggernaut) power forward.

The two are a larger sum together than apart. Worry about Amare next year. And just hope he keeps his tongue tied till the off season, as he will be often prompted to discuss his contract situation. Its his choice. The less he says the better.

Same goes for Kerr.
