Gentry speaks the truth. Amare looked out of shape at the Indian Wells game. He was getting shut down by Beidrins, was the last guy up the floor a lot of times, and just did not play above the rim. Hopefully hes just getting back into game shape, and isnt deteriorating athletically letting his injuries get to him. Hes gotta put the eye stuff behind him, and get back into the domnant Amare around the basket, or else well be in for a long Suns season. Im also thinking if Amare doesnt up his play, he might regret not signing an extension this off-season.
What do you think, is he just getting back into form, or is he no longer the dominant presence he was just a year ago?

I'm not surprised. Not only has he not played for 8 months or something, for much of the time he wasn't even able to work out or do anything physical while his eyes was healing. With MF surgery, he could at least work out his upper body and get his legs back in shape when they are healed, but with his eye surgery he couldn't lift anything without a chance of affecting the healing.
He's only been back for a month or so, even the most fit of players need more than a month to get back into shape, and not to mention, we're talking about SSOL shape not just NBA shape. That's a whole different level.

Takes a lot of work and time to get into full BB condition.

Hopefully he won't have a great year so we can sign him for less than Max

I'm about 75% sure he's going to get a max deal, if not in PHX then somewhere else. At 27 and likely to put up at least 20/8, someone is going to give him a max deal.

But do you think hell come back to 100%? Or will he slide off. I would expect with Shaq gone, Amare should put up at least 23 points when healthy. When do you think well see the above the rim Amare again?

I say don't expect the real Amare til the new year.
His eyeball almost fell out guys. He had to lay on his stomach for 22 hours a day.
You could give ME a max deal and I wouldnt be able to be at 100% for preseason right now. And both my eyeballs are awesome.

This is going to be a long process for him to return to his normal form. Even after micro-facture surgery, he struggled in the summer league and during pre-season that year, he even struggled struggled for couple weeks into the season. He gradually picked up his form each game, exactly what I am expecting out of him this year. I am not worried about what he is doing his right now.
I Dont wanna be here

an 80% Amare is better than 90% of the league. Patience is needed for him to return to dominate form. If 100% Amare coincides with the all star break, we are fine.
As far as his deal goes, I would not be surprised if he exercises his option and returns at the hefty sum. Then he has full control, barring injury, of his destiny. I really do not care what his decision will be, as long as it does not become 'the story' in Phnx. In fact, I hope he squashes all conversation (media) about it until the end of the season.
Teams will come calling, but the money is still going to be tight. The marquis teams (certain play off contenders) have money to spend, but the available inventory of Free Agents is impressive. Amare will not go to a sub par team. If he wants to sign on to a 4-5 yr deal, he will want to be on a winner. The important thing is for him to not be too aggressive with his leverage.
Even if he leaves for nothing, we'll have a reasonable chunk of change to spend. Our style of play, the friendly winters, our player friendly coach, and of course, for MVfinest, Steve Nash (A hidden reason why we re-upped the former MVP), will return us to a very desirable place for FAs to relocate.
Sound familiar ? No worries here.

I was watching a clip of Malone and Stockton and realized that these days Amare doesn't really run the fast break like he used to before the MF injury.
Do you guys think he's saving his knees or is he just getting a bit lazy?

Let's hope he is not 100% because so far Amare's rebounding looks like his old self.

I think he is lack of confidence.
