How about a night at Veterans Memorial Coliseum?

Post#1 » by akaespo » Wed Oct 14, 2009 10:18 pm

The Suns and Trailblazers are playing tonight's preseason game at Portland's Memorial Coliseum. The arena was home to the Blazers from 1970 through 1995 (where the Suns knocked them out of the playoffs). The game got me thinking, Sarver should give a nod to the rich history of the franchise and host a preseason game at Veterans Memorial Coliseum and honor past greats.

Wrote an entire post about it. Laying things out in more detail but want to hear your opinion.

I don't think they'd put 12,000 people in danger of a building collapsing on top of them

I think it would be fun, but that place is so damn run down its ridiculous.

It feels like a walk through a dimly lit Maryvale at night when you go in that building.

It's actually safe to walk around Maryvale at night, I did when I used to live there and never saw anything bad or nothing happened.

Great Idea.

Better idea = the old Western Suns uniforms.

I'm a fan of the idea all around.

..and for old times sake let let Jerry Colangelo run the team for a year.

But seriously I'd love to catch a game at the Madhouse on McDowell. I never got to see a Suns game there although it's where they were playing when I started following the team.

I did see a Road Runners hockey game there back in the day when I was a kid, I was confused when the game ended after 3 "Quarters"...
