Bobcats power forward Boris Diaw also missed most of the preseason, after suffering an ankle sprain while playing for the French national team. Diaw played 20 minutes Sunday, totaling seven points, three rebounds and three assists. "Obviously Boris is way out of shape,'' Larry Brown said. "He's running foul line-to-foul line right now, which is understandable'' after sitting out several weeks.

I'm glad Doris Meow is gone, that's probably Kerr's best move. I'm still surprised by that trade actually, not only did they get J-Rich but they also got Dudley and an early 2010 second rounder.

I still like it, too. The Boris we traded is the not the Boris some people wished we had back - that Boris disappeared quite some time before we ;moved him.
Wish it had been otherwise but he drove most of us crazy

Honestly, if he had the heart of a guy like Amundson he would be an incredible player.

Yeah as much of a headache Richardson is sometimes it's still better than having Boris on our team.

I don't understand how a proffesional NBA basketball player can be out of shape. seriously? you get paid millions to play basketball, and you don't work in the offseason to get more? lazy!

Having Boris last year would've been nice! I'll take Amare and Boris over Amare and Frye any day of the week, and i'm not a Diaw fan....

even out of shape, Boris is still much more talented than Rich and Dudley --- and still amazing how they threw in Raja in the trade as well. Talk about a rip off.

that said, you always want to have hard working players who take care of their bodies in and out of the gym each and every single day. Having guys like Dudley, Amundson, Frye, and Grant makes it a whole lot better.

Proper conditioning takes u a long way. Boris will never understand

no way, we got a steal in that trade... the only thing that hurt us in that trade was when amare went down. other than that, jrich and Dudley AND a second round pick was a steal

Still rather have Boris than J-Rich. When I see Dudley as the prize of that deal, you know something's wrong.

Diaw's versatility allowed us to do so much. He would have started at PF or C instead of Robin Lopez or Frye. He was also a great post defender and his post offense was damn good.

Oh well.

Diaw is a prime example of a player that works his ass off for one solid year, gets a fat contract, and then feels no need to ever play at that level again. Diaw is nowhere near a "great" defender... dude was hella soft when he played for the suns, I doubt anything else has changed. People don't call him Doris for nothing...

J-Rich was the best player in the deal, his skillset fits our system perfectly, problem is that he plays the same position as our sixth man (a darn good one at that). So finding time for both of them to get involved and "hot" is easier said than done... No matter how good your point guard is, yes EVEN if it is Steve Nash.

Dudley and the pick was an added Bonus. Losing Bell doesn't really hurt, he was a good defender but even that was questionable when he left, and his O game was limited to just jump shots really...
I'll take a young upriser like Dudley over an Aging Rajah Bell anyday.

I don't think the trade was a steal for either teams. It was pretty even. Doris did some things very well and sucked in others but so does JRich. We gave up our best perimeter defender but we got back a young player with a potential in JDud. If anything JDud was the steal in the trade, not JRich.

Although right now, because of the roster we have now, I'd probably would like to reverse the trade. Give our front court some versatility and a big man defender and also give our back court another decent defender. Raja comes off the books at the end of next season and Doris is probably much easier to trade than JRich.

anyways, i dont even care if boris is (which he isnt) more talented than both if those players- he still doesn't coexist with Amare, and doesn't try hard enough.

Well if the Suns still had Diaw and Bell then they would probably be better on their best days than this team is on their best days.

But Bell was becoming wildly inconsistent defensively and offensively, and Diaw really was no good here after 2007.

I think the Suns will be consistently better with J-Rich and Dudley, but I do think with Diaw and Bell the Suns would probably have a better shot during the playoffs. Maybe Diaw would've been good again with Shaq gone, but he was useless here in 2008 and 2009, so probably not.

I for one am not missing Diaw's 38 minute, 1-4 shooting, 3 point games.

It just sucks he played so damn well in Charlotte after he was awful here for so long. Hitting 3s like they were lay ups.

Diaw could be an all star if he really wanted to it's just a matter of hard work, dedication and playing with effort every game.
It's a shame he doesn't try harder.

Honestly, not to throw cold water on this Diaw love-fest... but are you guys freakin' screwing around?

If your concern has something to do with our lack of depth up front, okay...

If you HONESTLY think Diaw was a good player in any year other than when he was the focal point of our post offense... you're certifiably crazy.

Yes he has a unique skill set and yes, it is a waste of God-given talent.

We traded Diaw (and what many believed was one of the WORST contracts in the NBA) for a guy who can score 20ppg and do 360 dunks at will (read: great athlete), Dudley who is an integral part of our bench and a fantastci hustle guy and a 2nd rounder.

We may not have pulled a Gasol for trash type of deal, but the trade definately benefited us when it happen and you simply CAN'T go back and retroactively say... oh well now we lack depth here and that trade looks bad.... you just can't plan a team around the unexpected.
