Can someone remind me what we did with that 1st round pick we got for Rondo? I remember that trade was more of a dump of Brian Grant's contract than anything else...


Couldn't help but wonder what we got for him when this was mentioned in the post-game chatter:

It was the same Luol Deng pick from 04. Chicago made the playoffs the very next year, leaving us with the 21st pick. Suns picked Rondo and traded him along with Brian Grant to Boston(waived) for the Cavs first rounder. That Cavs 1st rounder turned out to be Rudy Fernandez.

He wouldn't have had any playing time under Duhhhtoni and been declared a bust because he couldn't shoot the ball. Yeah though, from 04-07 management was giving away first rounders like candy...

Exactly, most people forget how Mike D'Antoni traded away the future of the team because he didn't want to coach new talent.

Awful deals but what can you do? The biggest mistake ever was not keeping JJ. Anyways it's a positive sign that dragic has progressed so much in the offseason; I'm sure thunder dan played a big role in that.

I disagree because Raja was a GREAT replacement for Joe Johnson. Remember, the 2007 team was a better team than the 2005 team that had JJ.

If not for the suspensions, Suns would have won the whole thing that year.

Although, personally, I still think the NBA did the right thing.

The NBA reacted per the letter of the law in suspending Amare and Doris... then ignored it when Duncan came 5 steps onto the court during a skirmish involving Elson and a Sun (who I cannot remember... the mind has a unique ability to block out unpleasantness)

Duncan did not break any rules when he left the bench. Stu Jackson said they looked at the incident when Duncan left the bench and determined there was no altercation.

Amare left the bench when Nash was hip checked into the table... was there an altercation then ?

Not sure anybody with their right mind would take Raja Bell over Joe Johnson. I can only imagine how much more scarier that 07 team would have been with JJ. One guy is an all-star in his prime, while the other is an aging role player.

Amare continued walking towards the altercation between Bell and Horry until Marc Iavaroni pulled him back.

By then, it was too late. He had walked over to mid-court and was just a few steps away from the altercation between Raja and Horry.

It's the same thing that happened to Patrick Ewing in the 1997 playoffs.

Yeah raja was okay but JJ is a top 20 player in the league. He would have made the difference.

Doris and Banks money could've been used to keep JJ here.

not only did the nba ignore the law when duncan came on the floor the next year kevin garnett in the first round series against boston broke the rules by I believe either punching or pushing zaza pauchulia or he pushed a ref which is automatically a 1 game suspension....you figure what happened ( or rather WHAT DIDN'T HAPPEN)

that's why we complain. that's why it wasn't a surprise when we found out donaghy came out and confirmed our worst fears. that's why as suns fans we've had to deal with outside sources that do not include the 5 players our guys match up against.

yeh, we got cheated b/c donaghy and everyone hated sarver and stern is literally a spurs fan. we shoulve won that series, plain and simple.

GAME 1: we lost because our only capable floor general came out because of him crazy nose injury. we had momentum and the lead before nash went out and even aaron nelson, god of trainers couldnt stop the bleeding. SUNS SHOULD HAVE THE SERIES LEAD- 1-0

GAME 2: The suns own. wasnt even close. 2-0

GAME 3: we lost this game because of donaghy. HORIBLE CALLED GAME. this game couldve gone both ways... if we lose... 2-1, if we win: 3-0.

GAME 4: ah... the infamous game 4. we won this game because steve nash is a god. amare and diaw ARENT SUSPENDED AFTR THIS GAME. 3-1 or 4-0. so either we sweep, or we have a HUGE chance or winning, barring a complete and total breakdown.

I don't disagree that the Suns were the better team in 2007, but the bottom line is Amare and Diaw deserved to be suspended.

Everyone says it was unfair that Horry was rewarded for what he did, but I disagree.

- Horry did not commit that foul with the intent to provoke Amare and Boris to leave the bench.

- It would have been unfair to EVERY single person in NBA history who was suspended in the past for leaving the bench to let Amare and Diaw get away with a suspension.

Why put that rule in place if you aren't going to follow it? Until the rules are changed, you need to follow them and that's what the NBA did.

They made the right call in that situation.

If Amare and Boris stayed on the bench, they wouldn't have been suspended. End of story. They have nobody but themselves to blame.

i don't know- some people think so... and they're Suns fans too. they consider it a "smart veteran move"
