My Lebron Nightmare...Pull for the Cavs Suns Fans

Pray! Suns fans that the Cavs win games…lots of them! So the illusion a title this year stops them from trading Lebron James.

I had a nightmare. The nightmare of Lebron as a Laker! Image

The Cavs had traded James to the Lakers.

It was around the All-Star break in February and the Cavaliers were a respectable, but hardly scary 33-17. Sure they had a shot at the title…a “puncher’s chance” to borrow Kerr’s words… but clearly they were (at a minimum) 4th or 5th in line for the crown. The Shaq experiment was shaky at best.

Cavs management had made the conclusion that Lebron was going to walk and that if nothing was done, the team would be screwed for years and years. They decided to trade him. Rake in what they can. Get him out of the Eastern conference. Only one trade partner fit the requirements of good return and a team where Lebron would ink a new contract. It was the Lakers.

Now, the Lakers were doing fine, and they were on a nice glidepath to a 2nd straight title…but acquiring King James would go far beyond just winning more titles. The marketing boon from getting James would pay off huge, far far beyond winning more championships. Kobe had already won his “solo ring”, so he was onboard. It was a slam dunk…after 30 seconds of thought, the Laker do it!

In “the trade of the century” Cleveland sent Lebron and Ilgauskas to Los Angeles for Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Luke Walton and multiple draft picks.

With this and Shaq’s expiring contract, the Cavs started to rebuild.

…then my nightmare got worse. The Lakers went on to win every NBA championship up until the “PILF” Palin administration came to a bizarre end in 2016. Image

8 straight titles!

The "King & I” Lakers render anything the Suns do to just “a nice effort” for nearly a decade. "THE HORROR…THE HORROR"
Image ...OOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Just a nightmare? Maybe so, but I will be watching the Cavs and hoping for wins. Lots of them. I can’t see Lebron staying in Cleveland if they’re so-so. I can’t see Lebron as a Knick with nothing special around him. A New York Net? That’s a stretch. Miami?…eh..maybe?

Somehow, some way I’m afraid he’s going to end up on the Lakers. Then were screwed and for a very long time.

Nah don't worry the Lakers don't have the capspace. I think he's going to the Nets. Whether they move to Brooklyn or not it's still the NY area, that Russian guy is the richest owner in the league along with Jay Z who's the minority owner. They have a solid young core with Lopez, Lee and Harris and it looks like their tanking for John Wall or Derrick Favors. Would be a good storyline for the NBA also.

My "nightmare" trade would work capwise.

That being mentioned, I hope you're right about him going to the Nets. But, until the possibility of James wearing a Laker uni next year is an impossibilty, I'm going to fear it'll truly happen.

I think Lebron will stay. The team there is built around him and with Shaq and Z coming off the books after this season, they should have some space to make moves. I don't believe Lebron will go to a place that isn't a contender from the get-go, so Nets will be out of the question. Besides, he'll want to bring a championship to Cleveland before he leaves, otherwise it'll just leave a dent in his legacy.

I think he'll got to the Nets - new ownership means the move to Brooklyn will likely happen, and I think they'll find a way to offer him a piece of the team.
I would imagine he'd like to win a title in Ohio and then leave but if this team can't do it, he can say he gave it his best effort.

Zero chance of LeBro going to either the Lakers or Heat, if you ask me. Why? Because those are the only two cities where he'd be the second banana. Yes, LeBron wants to play with other stars, because he wants to win championships, but he's the best player in the NBA, and it's not particularly close. He can't go to D-Wade's team or Kobe's team to become either guy's sidekick.

Even though we all love Nash and Stoudemire, I think we all would take in LeBron as our best player.....just saying.

I agree. On most teams, LeBro would come in and immediately be the Alpha Dog, no problem. But Miami has won a title on D-Wade's back, LA has won a title on Kobe's back, and both cities revere their superstars as gods. D-Wade or especially Kobe won't go from being a god among men to LeBron's sidekick. And LeBron wouldn't get into that situation in the first place.

P.S. This is OT, but I mis-typed "LeBron" in the previous paragraph, and before I corrected it, I realized that it would be awesome if LeBron got caught in pot scandal, because then we could call him "LeBong." That would be great.
