It seems that Gentry is a lot better than mike.
the current team is not as one dimensional as when mike was the coach... the suns are comfortable playing half court setup than before...
the bench are having some playing time...
suns are not being out rebounded...
what more?

I dont think the not outrebounded thing will last forever but it doesnt look like Mike D was the most important part of our title runs. Porter did terribly though so maybe Gentry is just that good.

Considering Gentry is a direct disciple of Mike D'Antoni....no

Gentry took Mikes blueprint and made it better. Mike is still the pioneer but Gentry has improved on the design with fantastic results so far.

I believe Gentry learned alot working for D'antoni. He took the basic D'antoni mold and improved it for what our team needed. We needed a more reliable bench. We needed to keep some guys around the basket to pick up some rebounds instead of just having everyone streaking the court (The D'antoni way). Its a modified way of what we used to play and its working awesomely!
I dont think D'antoni is overated. We could have won with his system (except for a few dirty refs). NY will be a good team again. His system will work there once he gets an appropriate roster. People forget that he is still dealing with the Isiah Curse. Give it time and he will shine!

I'm not so sure this 2010 Plan will work. Miami, NJ, Dallas, MIN could splash on their parade.

I like coach Mike, and I'm thankful that he started something in Phoenix that is continuing without him.
I dont think another coach would have had the balls to start the team playing the way we are now.

Gentry has a chance to be better than D'Antoni. Gentry still hasn't coached any of the playoff games yet so we're yet to see how he coaches under pressure and on the big stage and D'Antoni had coached us all the way to the WCF, twice.
However, Gentry's use of the bench and openness to playing defense is definitely a one-up from D'Antoni.

Chicago was the best situation for him, but I guess money and zero possibility of Lebron made him change his mind.

Duhhhtoni is the worst coach in the league, I said it before when he was with the Suns and still saying it now, he had favorites and rarely played a deep rotation. Mind you guys like Nelson and Gentry arn't much better but out of all the run-n-gun coaches, if you have to pick your poison it would be Gentry, reason being Gentry plays his bench and is the least annoying out of those three guys.

how can you say he's the worst coach in the NBA? I would say Coach Brown? of the Cavs is worse in my opinion. Their offensive strategy is just to give it to LBJ 90 percent of the time and hope something good happens.

Reinsdorf acted like a douche to him and questioned his coaching style right in front of him. If the Bulls weren't quick to respond to him, he might get fired.

Dude hates Nash, loves a douche like Marbury and hates one of the most likable coaches in the league. D'Antoni somehow managed to get us some great seasons and to the western conference finals without Amare and chronic injuries throughout the whole season. What an awful coach.

I honestly think Gentry should be the obvious choice for coach of the year.

If Rox make playoffs, Adelman has to be a top choice for that. Guy can both coach a fast-paced, solid offensive style and an excellent defensive team and gets the most out of every player.

No question. Brown is a solid defensive coach, but doesn't know how to lead a team and is a terrible offensive coach. Didn't even talk to his team last year many late key plays in the playoffs, just let Kuester do it.

LOL. Every other thread they have is about D'Antoni being a terrible coach.

Let's see who the Knicks get next summer and then make that decision.
