A post in another thread got me to thinking...

"How many back to back games do other "elite" teams play?"

Phoenix = 20
Los Angeles = 20
Boston = 19
San Antonio = 17

"Okay, not as much of a discrepancy as I had thought might exist. But what are the quality of teams each plays during those back to back sets?"

So I used the team records from last year and this is what I found:

First Game of Set
Phoenix must play teams with an average record of .459 on the first of a back to back.

By comparison, LAL = .492, BOS = .548 and SA = .484

Second Game of Set
Phoenix must play teams with an average record of .560 on the second of a back to back.

By comparison, LAL = .440, BOS = .429 and SA = .464

Total Average Records of All Teams Played During Set
Phoenix must play teams with an average record of .509 throughout their back to backs.

By comparison, LAL = .466, BOS = .489 and SA = .474

In Summary
Phoenix has both the hardest (by a wide margin; PHX's .560 to SA's .464) average record on the second of their back to backs & the hardest total average record (PHX's .509 to BOS's .489).

In a way back to back games can be a good thing considering they would be in rhythm rather than taking a few days and losing it.

Orrrrrrrrrrrrr they can be a bad thing because it's exhausting to a team that plays our style and our back-to-backs are more difficult than everyone elses.

NO IT IS ESPECIALLY GREAT WHEN OUR BEST PLAYERS ARE REALLY OLD. THIS IS GREAT NEWS.

So... what you are saying is Suns get ez opponents on the 1st of the B2B so they can work up a sweat and get into a rhytm for the 2nd of the B2B?

The Suns arrived early Thursday in Los Angeles, where the Lakers have been resting since Sunday and got Andrew Bynum healed up. Phoenix had a weeklong road trip and one day off before a back-to-back.

"You don't want me to get into that one," Gentry said. "It's on the schedule so we'll play it. It just seems strange."

Sun Scorched, one other thing you might want to look at is the number of those back to backs that are on the road. Home back to backs where the player can sleep in his own bed are much easier than ones were the team has to catch a plane and be in a new city the next day.

yeah... suns really got screwed on the scheduling this season. i'm sure they feel slighted by it, and maybe they will use it as motivation and throw it in David Sperms face.

I hate Stern but I doubt he has any direct control over the schedules, I could be wrong though.
