For a team for the entire season is 42.8% by the Hornets in 96/97. I think we have a decent shot at beating that this year. Hornets made 591 three pointers that year and we're on pace to make 929 (also another record). We're at 47.4% after tonight's game. I do think it'll drop, but I think we can keep it fairly high. We have a lot of really good shooters on this team and with Nash playing the way he has been, I see no reason why the open looks won't keep coming.

Unless something just goes wrong it seems like we've got a good shot at it

*shrug* Even Gentry said he doesn't see why this team can't beat the record if we keep getting the looks we've been getting. Eventually they'll probably start covering our shooters more, but then Amare will be dunking every time down the floor. They're just going to have to pick their poison.

^ This. There is no stopping a team with this many weapons on offense, and we proved it against THE best defense in the NBA. Kobe/Ron/Bynum might have a chance though...

Boston. They have better defensive starting lineup and better defenders coming off the bench. Their only weak link in their starting line up is Ray Ray.

AND I'd take a defensive lineup of, Sheed, Daniels, Tony Allen off the bench over Odom, Brown and Vujabic any day.

Ray Ray < Kobe
Rondo > Fisher

Daniels > Vujabic

Yeah that's what I thought as well. As long as we shoot well and stay just as active defensively we should win this game. Especially if they are out of rhythm offensively from no game action since Sunday.

Well we always had bad shooters before who took too many 3's. Marion and Q-Rich come to mind specifically. Marion took way too many 3's for his ability, as did Q.

I'm not saying we're going to do it, but I think we have a decent shot at it.

Wasn't 96-97 one of the years with the short 3pt line? What's the record with a real NBA 3pt line? Whatever it is, that's probably a more practical target.

The D'Antoni Suns' best was 39.9%, and I think we've got the breadth and depth of shooters to significantly better than that. I like that Gentry thinks mid-40s is reasonable, but I think the upper bound is probably around 41%. A full percentage point at this level is huge, and would constitute a massive leap over the 05-06 team.
