Trade that would make the Suns legit contenders

Suns trade Leandro Barbosa, Robin Lopez, and Alando Tucker to the Hornets for

Emeka Okafor and Marcus Thornton

The Suns biggest weakness is interior defense which would be solved right away with Okafor. Also, Okafor is an excellent rebounder.

Hornets do this because they need more scorers.

Well,

Okafor is clearly an upgrade on Collins or RoLo.
Thornton could play as a replacement for Barbs, I guess
and we're obviously not using Tucker.

But NO only has one other center - Hilton Armstrong - and no other backups. They have six guards.

If NO wanted to do it, I'd say go for it, but ...

Also, are you looking too harshly at Barbs? He is injured, after all.

You know we havent gotten anywhere with Barbosa and he can help a poorly offensive team like the Hornets. Our biggest weakness is interior D and Okafor would be a huge help there

We will being handicapping our own future trading for Okafor. That guy's not worth 10 + million/yr,

just look up players like Josh S. and Aldridge too see how much they're being paid :D.

SUNS's future pretty much depends on which FA they gonna sign in 2010 or 2011 because we do not

have any franchise player in-the-making on our current roster.

Dont you think Okafor is worth the trade? He would make the interior D so much better and we already have enough scorers on this team, so we wont be missing Barbs

Okay, here's the case. What if Amare leaves in 2010 ? You're stuck with Okafor + his horrible cap-killing contract for next 5 yrs and won't have the capspace to sign any other better FA in 2010. :(
I'll do the trade only if we knew that Amare's gonna resign for less than MAX (around 16 millions). Cuz both of them are not all-around players, they need each other to cover their own ass; one for defense, one for offense. Anywaz, just my 2-cent. :D

That would be a good trade if they knew for sure they were keeping Amare but if Amare walks it wouldn't be so good.

I agree that is a good point. But if Amare leaves and somehow we can lure Chris Bosh to come here then that would be just as good

That's a bad deal for us.

That's a good deal for the Suns. Interior defense is what is keeping the Suns from becoming contenders imo. Not to mention the Hornets are pretty much looking to give Okafor away.

We wouldn't do it b/c of Mek's salary, and I wouldn't do it unless Richardson was swapped for Barbosa.

Its an interesting trade but Okafur does not work in run and gun at all

so no on the trade and every variation

mobile big men is what we need like Nash said Okafur would be like having Shaq again (not as bad but same deal)

I would be interested in putting Yi as our starting C next to Amare. He's a quick young mobile big that has long arms, can play D, and rebound. I dont think he has reached his potential, and in our run and gun system could blossom. He is injured right now, but was having a great start of the season in NJ. Maybe a Yi+Lee+1st round pick for Lopez+Barbosa. Even a Yi+Skip2myLou+pick would be good for me. We could slide Dragic to the 2 spot and bring Rafer off the bench for Nash. Rafer is an expiring and would give us more options in the offseason (5.5mill coming off the books).

Nash/Dragic
JRICH/Lee
Hill/Duds/Clark
Amare/Clark/Amundson
Yi/Frye/Collins

OR

Nash/Rafer/Dragic
JRICH/Dragic
Hill/Duds/Clark
Amare/Clark/Amundson
Yi/Frye/Collins

Call me crazy, but it just might work. :D
Not to mention im sure the NJ pick would be a good one!

I doubt they would add Lee considering they basically gave up VC for him, they would probably add T-Will instead, he went to college at Louisville with Clark by the way so they would be reunited while the Lopez bros would be...works out both ways.
