Any Suns fans willing to stick up for the team?

Post#1 » by penbeast0 » Fri Nov 27, 2009 4:57 pm

Over on the Player Comparisom Board, we are having an All-time team competition. To keep it interesting, we have limited it to those franchises who have only won 1 ring or less since 1950.

The Suns have the third best winning percentage in the history of the NBA behind only the Lakers and Celtics. Gail Goodridge, Dick Van Arsdale, Kevin Johnson, Tom Chambers, Charles Barkley, Walter Davis, Paul Westphal, Shawn Marion, Steve Nash, Amare . . . . surely someone can build a powerhouse all-time franchise team out of that many supertalented players.

Come, play, enjoy.

Argh, if I was at home I'd go into more depth

Basically though I think it'd look like this
C - Amare / Alvan Adams
PF - Barkley / Silas / Chambers / Truck Robinson
SF - Marion / Walter Davis / Cedric Ceballos / Uncle Cliffy / The Hawk
SG - Westphal / Dan Majerle / Hornacek / Chapman / Van Arsdale
PG WOW...Nash / Kidd / KJ

None of them are in order...but we've had some talent here

Someone with more time can write something up - maybe we all do a vote sort of thing here so that on the PC board it represents the board's 'team'

Personally, I'd roll with

Nash / KJ / Kidd
Westphal / Majerle / Davis
Marion / Connie / Cliffy
Barkley / Chambers
Stoudemire / Adams

Need that versatility off the bench with Cliffy, Majerle, Hawk, Chambers all able to play multiple positions, and Nash's ability to shoot means you could play him and Kidd together with Kidd guarding the SG

Outstanding defensive team with
Kidd
Majerle
Marion
Cliffy
Adams

Pg. Nash Sg. Majerle Sf. Marion Pf. Barkley C. Amare Scoring wouldnt be a problem, with Majerle and Marion, the defense would be decent, and with Marion and Barkley, rebounding would not be a problem.

Wow...some of you guys are forgetting how damn unstoppable KJ was for about 4 seasons (when completely healthy). I seriously think I'd take him over Nash and Kidd as far as pure talent goes. Hell, KJ could get to the rim ANY time he wanted, and this was before the stupid hand check rules. He would LIVE at the rim or the free throw line in the game today. It's definitely the most competitive position as far as Hall of Famers go, I'll give you that...but KJ was legit on both ends of the court and downright devastating when driving to the hoop.
