Top ten signs of a Bandwagon fan

Post#1 » by AZdeuce » Sat Nov 28, 2009 8:00 pm

10: Cant name all the players on the team, let alone 10 players
9: Only watches when team are winning
8: Only watches during playoff time
7: Has never actually been to the state in which the team plays and has no plays to go
6: Only likes the popular player on the team
5: Switches teams like clothes
4: Cant tell you the stats of any player on the team
3: Lives and grows up in a place where has pro teams but does not like home teams
2: Buys a jersey when the team wins the championship
and the number sign
1: Favoriate Teams are Lakers, Cowboys, and Yankees

Reason i bring this up. I live and grew up in Phx, AZ. I bumped into some kids ages 18,19, and 20. Two were wearing Lakeres jerseys. And they lived and grew up in AZ. And of course they have never been to California. You can see how i got mad.

There are exceptions dont get me wrong. People who have never been to the US or people who live in states that dont have pro teams! They get a pass.

My favorite Teams:
1: Suns
2: Cardinals
3: DBacks
4: ASU
5: Coyotes
6: U of A

SUNS top the list, cant miss a game no matter how good or bad they are. Cards are not quite at that level but there right there
Suns fan since 1988 and always will be

Trust me I'm far from it, I watched Suns games even when they were considered a bad team

Anyway I would rank them like this

1) Suns

2) Coyotes
3) Diamondbacks

4) Cardinals (Not a fan of Warner and can't stand the guy, until he retires they will stay here but once he retires they move up to #2)

5) Soccer

6) Doesn't make a difference

1) Suns.

2) Cardinals, because I think of them the same way I think of my cousin with Down Syndrome ("What's that? You made it in the playoffs? Good job!") and will cheer when they do well, or when DP'09 come to town to buy all my girlie drinks at Hooters.

:D

It should be noted though that I can't quite exact statistics, only ballpark stuff (i.e., Grant Hill is getting more rebounds than our centers). And I didn't watch the Suns when they were losing, but I have good excuses for that.

I have never been to Phoenix, or Arizona for that matter, and I cannot state detailed statistics of any one player on the Suns. Does that make me a bandwagon fan :(?

IM not saying tell me to the decimal what the stats are but I would hope you know Nash's assist average.

No it doesn't. You could live in Alaska and still root for the Suns. That doesn't mean you're a bandwagon fan.

1) Suns

That's my list. I wish I could say I really cared about our other sports teams, but aside from supporting them since they're our native teams, I really don't. I just don't really like watching baseball, and while I think football is entertaining, I don't watch that either. I don't care for college sports. I'm all about pro basketball, whether it's the NBA, euroleague, or even the WNBA(Mercury rock!).

Well I know a lot about the team and follow them as much as I can (which is why im pissed about you guys not being on national TV as much). But I never cared much for the Suns until you got Nash, and I don't really see myself being a fan of the team when Nash retires. Though maybe I will because I still like the Mavs, which conflicts with me being a Suns fan now  .

I guess that makes me a bandwagon fan?

Gotcha: Basketball is my first love, I know and understand the game the flow and how things affect teams. Football, not quite the expert so to say but I know the Cards players and what their strength and weakness are. Dont really like Hockey, but coyotes are the home team so got to support them. Baseball is the national past its time and I am not really fond of it but I do know the players on the DBacks.

10: Cant name all the players on the team, let alone 10 players
I can name all the players (1 thru 15) since the 1990-1991 season by heart.

9: Only watches when team are winning
Nope. Watch em all. Seen all thus far for this season.

8: Only watches during playoff time
Nope. Watch em all. See above.

7: Has never actually been to the state in which the team plays and has no plays to go
Lived in Mesa for 8 yrs. Coming back home to Mesa in February.

6: Only likes the popular player on the team
Nope. Jarron Collins, Amundson, and JRich are my favorites.

5: Switches teams like clothes
Love the Rockets. Always have. Don't see how that's a "switch."

4: Cant tell you the stats of any player on the team
Can tell all stats.

3: Lives and grows up in a place where has pro teams but does not like home teams
Resident in LA. Mesa is hometown, thus home team is Phoenix. Hence why they call it "home" team not "resident of city" team

2: Buys a jersey when the team wins the championship
Don't own a jersey anymore, but did have Suns' Kidd, Rockets' Barkley, and Rockets Horry

1: Favoriate Teams are Lakers, Cowboys, and Yankees
Definitely don't like those mentioned teams.

rockets' horry??? **** YOU DUDE!!! jk, man.

i dont care about any of that stuff. to not be a bandwagon fan, you gotta pick a favorite team and keep them as favorite even when they're losing.

i like other teams besides the suns (knicks are 2nd favorite) and kobe bryant is one of my favorite players. but im not a bandwagon fan.

but i think its OK to like teams that win. winning is cool. its one of the reasons why the knicks are my 2nd favorite (obviously, this was a while ago) and kobe is one of my favorites. but i probably watched 95% of the suns games that weren't on cable in 2003-2004. half of those im talking rookie lb starting pg-- im a MAN.

Wait just a minute. We all know why you despise Warner. The man is a true conservative and that just kills the far left loony liberal in you, does it not Mary?

Haha I was just joshing buddy. Everyone who knows a little about me or cares enough to read my posts knows I love the Suns with all my heart, even though I'm a Canadian. Always loved them since I started watching ball, they're just godly :) I'm pretty young, so I don't know much about the history of the team, but I still would never ditch this team for any other team no matter the conditions. True fans always stay forever, no matter if the team is in hardship or not.

Became a Suns fan in 94 (Lived in LA from 86-05) while playing NBA live. I picked the Suns because they were good on the game. Started watching them on TV to learn the players. The rest is history.

The Suns are one reason I moved to AZ after 19 yrs in LA. I missed the Washington game after the Suns were snowed-in Denver in 06. I was in Mich, that's it in 5 yrs.

My Teams are.

NY Islanders 80
Bucs 79
Cubs 84
Suns 94

Only teams I ever rooted for. 1. Bucs 2. Suns 3. Cubs 4. Islanders

How can you be so dumb? You don't like Steve Nash or Kurt Warner... I think you just like disagreeing with people. You are the perfect definition of a hater.

Seems there's degrees of bandwagoneering.

I'd like to hear some terminology for the shades of gray
