Its time to trade Amare

Post#1 » by statisback » Wed Dec 2, 2009 6:48 am

As much of being a fan of his game, the Suns should trade him. He is no longer motivated to play with the team which is clearly evident. Suns have enough offense with Nash, JRich, Barbosa and maybe they can develop Clark.

A possible trade could be with the Bulls to get Tyrus Thomas and Brad Miller.

Too soon for what? I think the Suns have been waiting long enough for Amare to develop his rebounding and defense.. doesnt seem to be working.

Agreed, not to sure about that trade though but what team would really give Amare a max contract with the way he's played this season? Averaging under 20 points is good but for a guy his size the rebounding numbers, turnovers, who will pay him?

It's to bad they couldn't do that Wizards trade before the draft for Jamison and the #5, could have drafted Brandon Jennings...Now though can they even unload him? He's going to be making almost 20M so it looks like the Suns might be stuck with him next year also anyway...

Not that I don't agree with you because I personally think he will walk at the end of the year anyways, but I think it's just too soon to throw this out there (plus its been posted on here MULTIPLE times already). Maybe throw it out again near the end of the last trade deadline of the season.

I have a hard time seeing Amare walking away from a guranteed 18M next season. Before the season I would have thought but with the way he's playing I doubt any team would give him anywhere near the max.

Have to extend him if you want to trade him and get anything in return.

If he continues to show no effort on the defensive side of the ball, I don't think the Suns have a choice but to trade him because there's no way he's getting a max deal from the suns. I don't think we should make any deals this year though( I doubt amar'e opts out) unless we fall off quite a bit come January/Feb. Maybe try something in the offseason because our chemistry right now is pretty solid and you never want to mess with that when your teams a contender.

Dont think we're contender status right now

We can afford to try to adapt chemistry a bit if it drastically improves the prospects of this team in the now and the future what im hoping is some team overvalues Amare and we get a good piece out of him

Chances are he wont be traded at all unfortunately

I can buy that Jimmyboy

Kerr has, in the past, stressed defense. He has already committed to non D Nash... will he be willing to commit to non D Stat ?

I think his value to the team has been diminished with the offense added with JRich, Hill, Barbs, Frye, Dudley etc. We are much more balanced now.

Trading him may be tricky with his 17 mil player option next yr. However, dealing him to a team where he will not re-sign (you know, some of the ones HE didn't say he wanted to play for on his self-promo tour) may yield a good player or two...but we'll have to take on future salary as he will be considered more of an 'expiring contract' to whomever...

either way, it is a decision that is looming. We just need Stat to play better.

I think CLE might be willing to move Varejao + DWest for him...we might even get Hickson out of it.

Amare already showed he *CAN* play next to Shaq, and a frontline of Shaq+Amare+Lebron = YIKES

I think if in a month's time Amare's still doing 19 and 7, we'd have to at least look at Varejao + DWest + Hickson.

In saying that, I'd rather not Varejao cos he's just a glorified RoLo...and DWest has character issues so don't see it happening

Amare + filler for J.Hill + D.Gallinari + J.Jeffries + fillers ?
NK prob says "yes" cuz we take on J.Jeffries' contract, helping out with their 2010 plan.
Amare + Barb for Yi + C.Lee + Alston + B.Simmons ?
NJ prob says "yes" cuz they don't need Alston and they don't ened B.Simmons...Amare + Barb is an upgrade over whatever they have right now...

Can we just open a Sky Is Falling/We're All Doomed thread and every time we lose those who are wigging out can post there? There should also be a corresponding Is It Too Soon To Talk About Repeating? thread for those of us who get overly excited when we beat Sacramento, Minny, etc.

Newest wiretap new about Amare sounds like he's a goner after this season. He wants to go to a championship team.

If it looks like we're bombing out by Feb, then we should move Amare if he's going to walk in the off-season.
