This team needs to rebuild and I also admit I was wrong...

Post#1 » by MaryvalesFinest » Wed Dec 2, 2009 3:29 am

What we saw tonight is an example of why this team needs to rebuild. Hey I admit every team has a bad game but to lose by almost 30 points to a bottom 3 team in the league shows no one on this team gives a damn.

Now a few things I was wrong about...

Steve Nash isn't going to take this team anywhere, that's what I said up until last week when I bought into the Nash hype. For a week I bought into the Nash hype but I'm officially off the bandwagon for good, I'll be the first to say I was wrong. Maybe the Suns still end up with a good record and Nash has a good year but let's be real guys who thinks this team can make the finals as constructed?

Amare isn't a max contract player. I always thought he was but it's clear his leg and eye injuries have changed him as a player. He's not the same player and I'm guessing Sarver and Kerr either let him walk or trade him for 25 cents on the dollar. Sad that this is what it will come down to but that's what will likely happen.

Goran Dragic just isn't good. I keep hearing the same thing week after week that he can back up Nash. I admit I was wrong on this because I thought he had a chance to be a solid backup. The Suns need a backup considering he has had chances to prove himself and he never did.

As for Lopez and Clark, the jury is still out on them but the Suns need to give them playing time to see if their busts or not. It's hard to tell with only a few minutes per game. So can't give my judgement on those guys.

Now I know some people are saying why write this now? It's just one game the Suns lost.

Hey I expect teams to have bad games, just not being blown out by almost 30 points by a bottom 3 team in the league. It was clear tonight these guys don't care about winning. It will be the same thing for the next years, they win some games, lose some but fail to advance in the playoffs or maybe end up missing the playoffs next year or the year after.

I'm just wondering when this team is going to rebuild? Considering they have no one to build around that's the scary thing. They were already ranked low in the ESPN futures rankings but now I suspect they might be last considering other players from teams broke out.

Just sad I guess the Suns had the chance to fully rebuild and now it's 3 more years of this...When 2012 comes around seriously who are the Suns going to build around? I don't want to see this team as a bottom feeder for the 2010's but as long as they rebuild through the draft and play hard it would be better than seeing what we're seeing now.

It was one game, you can't be taken seriously when your viewpoints take a 180 in a matter of hours.

I would say the Suns are more of a joke now being blown out by almost 30 against the Knicks but hey I shouldn't talk about the truth right?

Hordes of panicky people seem to be evacuating the town for
some unknown reason. Professor, without knowing precisely
what the danger is, would you say it's time for our viewers
to crack each other's heads open and feast on the goo inside?
Professor: Mmm, yes I would, Kent.

Amare's agent needs to tell his client that he better step his game up if he wants anything near a MAX contract.

You guys should relax. You guys have been awesome all year, you were bound to have a bad game. It happens. We've been absolutely awful this year, we were bound for an explosion.

This guys sounds like a few of the posters we have over on the Knicks board who overreact to everything. And trust me, we have a lot more to be mad about.

Look, the Knicks played a better game tonight than they've played in years. It was a complete aberration. And even if this was a turning point of sorts in the Knicks season, the Suns had an off game which every team has. Big deal. Maybe they didn't take the Knicks seriously...maybe they were looking towards the Cavs game tomorrow night...hell, maybe they were all out drinking last night and were playing hungover.

As a fan, you don't want to hear any of those excuses, but with a team like the Suns, it's no reason to jump off a bridge. Certainly no reason to blow this team up at 14-4. Relax. Knicks fans are jealous of your team and you have a lot to look forward to this year. And Steve Nash is still the man. Tonight wasn't his fault at all and you can see it in his pissed off face.

I don't even know why I'm over here posting this. I think it's because I like the Suns so much and out of all of the "contenders" in the league, I hope they take the chip this year. They're one of the few teams who even in defeat, never piss me off. They have a bunch of likeable guys, one of the best pure PGs in the league, play an awesome style of ball, and are flat out good. Take your lumps from tonight and enjoy the rest of this season.

Grabbing less than 10 boards a game for someone his size/athleticism/court minutes, is unacceptable.

I thought he vowed to play d again?

you got a point NYK445... but its easy to rail on the Sunnies for a game like this. We are like the 'Little girl with a curl on her forehead'

I don't buy into all that the OP says (does anyone?) but one thing for certain, Stat needs to step up for us to be anything more than above average. Harrington and whoever schooled him, and he was stiff and clumsy when trying to create. I don't think he gets it. If not Pick and Roll then what??? He is not dominating anymore. If it IS a conditioning issue, we ought to see something by the end of the month. If Amare continues his paddycake ways, he falls into the 'overpaid' category and we likely, and I hate to phrase this like this, we likely are 'Stuck' with him for next yr as no one will be offering the max..... and surely, if some one did, he is as good as gone. ( we could ink up Harrington OR Lee and save 10 mill)

Either way, we could be in for some stinky negotiations in dealing with Sun Who. Kerr-plunk may be dishing him some humble pie.

Geez effin Louise.

You're as bad as Jmac1 who proclaims Lopez will be the G.O.A.T after one game and disappears after Lopez "returned to Earth."

It's one game and considering the makeup of our team, it's going to happen every now and then. It's been happening for years and was happening even to the prime SSOL teams. How could you call yourself a Suns fan if you were just caught in the hype of a 12-3 record?

It's one game, one bad loss.

Cavs next. Go Suns!

There's a difference between losing a game by 6-10 points while fighting to try and win all game instead of just giving up and being blown out by almost 30...

A really disappointing loss, however .... I remember a Finals back when I was still a Lakers fan and the Celts beat them in one game by 40-some points. Good teams forget how to play sometimes - they have off nights where you can't imagine they could possibly have scored enough drugs to account for how bad they are.

This was absolutely dreadful but it isn't "who they are" - like Frank said, I'm glad it was an ass-rape of a loss. Maybe it will get their attention. Defense has to be addressed.
I'll be interested to hear how they respond in the press to this.

My only real complaint is, when it was clear we were sucking like a black hole, we didn't put Lopez and the second string in. Take the starters out and sit them down if they can't get it together. Couldn't have been worse.

ah well, tomorrow is another day, Scarlett ... err, Maryvale.

You also realize even with different players D'Antoni knows this team inside out. He knows how to slow down Nash & Amare, and every weakness of his own offense. So wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, we lost. It happens.

P.S. Thanks for the classy comments Knicks fans, good luck to your team!
