Kerr: "I'm pretty happy with this group''

Post#1 » by Mr. Sun » Tue Dec 15, 2009 7:57 am

In an interview Monday with FanHouse, Phoenix general manager Steve Kerr said he doesn't foresee the Suns making a deal before the Feb. 18 trade deadline.

"I don't think we're going to do anything,'' he said. "I'm pretty happy with this group.''

Kerr was asked if that means Stoudemire, who can opt out of his contract next summer and become a free agent, is safe from being moved.

"I'd be pretty surprised if we did anything,'' Kerr said. "We're playing well. You always want to get better and you never say never (regarding a move). But we're playing well.''

...

"I wouldn't be shocked if in two years we're extending him again,'' Kerr said of Nash, who, after signing a two-year, $22 million extension last summer to take him through 2011-12, is averaging 18.0 points and a NBA-high 11.1 assists.

Two more years, till 2014!?!?!

Nash is going to have a head of grey hair and be 40 years old!

That would look kind of cool though, an old grey haired guy playing with teenagers. Sign me up!

Rebuilding starts in 2015, woo hoo!!!

I don't give a damn how happy Kerr is, if he doesn't take advantage of this...

There's nothing we have they want. I don't think they want Amare and Amare don't wanna be there. I doubt they want Rolo seeing how he's been playing like a**.

Clark is probably the only player they would look at since he's young and he's versatile.

But I agree with you, if there's a move to be made that can land us AR, then I'd definitely consider it.

I do not believe anything Kerr-plunk says. He is puppet.... enjoying a relatively peaceful time. We have a good record, not into tax land too deep that causes Mt Sarver to blow... I assume attendance is except-able ... no players are publicly moaning

compared to past yrs , his turmoil level is way down. Merry Xmas Stevie.

Complacency ... a required trait to follow this team without experiencing one-fistfull-at-a-time-hair-loss.

When was the last 'true' basketball move made by this organization ? Signing KT ? Barkley ? Was Shaq a BBall move or one created by malcontent Marion ?

This team has potential.... with the addition of a defensive minded bigman. The rest of the parts are in place... but alas... we will keep our streamlined budget intact and be happy with 2, maybe 3 home play off games.

Sometimes I believe Kerr-plunk and RSarver look over at the fLakers and say... oh well, we can't beat them this yr, and probably next... so lets just be profitable and reasonably competitive. Hell, the one Superstar they are banking on (Nash) has said its more important to have fun than win it all. Perfect match.

Nash hasn't fallen off yet, and who knows when he will. If he keeps up his elite MVP #1 PG level play, then why not keep him as long as we can?

If Kerr says he's happy it means a trade is on the horizon.

If I were a betting man, I would bet that Kerr is giving the Warriors a call to try to snag Randolph and/or Curry again.

1 playoff game = 1 million dollars. Get out of the first round after a 7 game series where you're the higher seed and you just made at least 6 mil more than last year. Too bad they won't turn around and spend it to make the team better

I don't like all this complacent talk outta Kerr. It makes it seem he's fine with sitting on his ass and waiting for other teams to call him. He needs to at least play the field to see what offers are available.

Really, he said, dripping sarcasm. Randolph, the amalgam of /Wilt/Curly Neal/Jesus and Shaq? On the block?
I wonder how that flies on the GS board

So what would you give up for AR?

and what is in Nellie's head?

In other words: We're okay with keeping Amar'e unless someone ups the ante.

I would be willing to make almost any trade with Golden State that got us Anthony Randolph and did not give us Corey Magette.

Randolph/Clark could be a beastly combo in the upcoming years.

Kerr is full of crap. Those comments mean he is blowing it up. Last year he said the same bs and then Dudley arrived.

Kerr is playing it safe. Safe means probable playoffs. Last yrs absence makes that a priority, and I am sure to some in the front office, a victorious $ea$on.

In fairness, I can't think of many deals that would make us better than or on par with the fLakers. So he ought to be happy with what he has. Its just a shame he doesn't show the desire to improve an already decent team....even though his assets are limited.

Its early yet... remember, it was Miami that called with Shaq... or we would have been ... ahem, stuck with Marion and would not had to go through with all of the money shaving antics.

Its better to do nothing sometimes.
