Blazers need size.
Blazer fan here. What would you say to each of the following packages:
1. Dante Cunningham and Patty Mills for Robin Lopez, or
2. Travis Outlaw for Robin Lopez and Earl Clark
All three players I propose seem like pretty good fits for Phoenix, and Lopez seems to be struggling to find a role. Let's assume Portland would also include the usual incentives; cash and 2nd rounders that fans don't really care about but seem to influence GMs and owners quite a bit.

1. No
2. Probably
Yes, Robin is struggling here and cannot perform with the minutes/role we give him. The first trade gives us a kind of redundant roster though with Cunningham and Mills falling really low in our depth chart. I like Outlaw. Either way, it'd leave us pretty thin if we didn't get some kind of big back. What about something where we get Juwan?

1. Mills is unproven and last time I checked, still injured. Likewise with Cunningham. I know you probably won't do it, but replacing Mills with Bayless would make us strongly consider the deal.
2. EC is unproven but packed with potential and talent, I'm not ready to give him up for Outlaw. I think Outlaw is a nice player but I'm more interested in what EC brings on defense.

An offer was made tentatively to the Blazers but we got shot down temporarily. I say again, temporarily. I heard this before Joe's injury. Not sure if the offer was extended once more.
At one point a certain Blazer said something to Gentry during the recent game. He was involved in the first query and that had more than a little to do with his comment to Gentry.

Re: Blazers need size.
please give the blazers robin lopez. this guy jsut can´t play our style of basketball - he truely has no offensive skills. maybe he fits with the blazers, but not here.
but what do we need in return? what do we realy need? a back up pg? i think dragic is doing ok.
a back up sg?? hell no, j-rich and barbs are doing fine?
a back up sf? ghill and duds are both good players.
the same goes with our frontcourt. as long as lopez is getting dnp´s we are fine. i´d prefer collins to play over lopez.
the only thing that would make sense is trading for steve blake to back up nash, than trade j-rich for a defensive minded pf, move ama´re to center and see what happens.
nash - blake - dragic
barbosa - dragic
ghill - dudley
( camby / emeka / ???) - lou
ama´re - frye

Re: Blazers need size.
Although having J.B. on the suns roster looks good, we need SIZE. Although this team may be exciting to watch, I enjoyed more of the Lakers/Cavs game where both teams became aggressive in there defensive assignments and tried to stop one another. That's what you need in the playoffs, TOUGHNESS. We had a little bit of toughness to us in the years when we were trying to make a run for the whole thing, but compared to what we have now there is no way we can make it out of the first round. The games we all viewed last night, were all playoff types of games it seemed. The ref's let the players play, and the games became much more physical. Our team may have heart and hustle, but that can get you only so far. I for one, hope in the following years the suns get some type of mean streak about them and end this fast paced style that gets us only so far.

They need size but we need size too. Lopez, if he GETS IT, is what we need. Still...Lopez for Rudy anyone?

Just seemed like what happened based on Gentry's look when Bayless was running away from that pocket tre.

Re: Blazers need size.
I'd do it, even to get someone we could deal to another team.
I'd also like to see Petteri Kopponen (draft rights) in the package
and then we go after Sean Williams.
Hell, why are we not playing Collins? Lopez is just hurting his trade value every time we put him on the floor

The only thing that get's me about when players respond like that is this.... why don't they always play like that?
I mean, if they are capable of it, why are they taking nights off? Or why does it take hearing the opposing coach say something you don't like before you really turn it on?
I understand that there is a certain amount of fatigue involved on a game-to-game basis, but the reason why Jordan, Kobe and LeBron are (or were) the way they are (were) is because they come to compete every night.

So you're saying that the Suns offered some sort of deal for Bayless and the Blazers turned it down for the moment. You imply that Joel going down has some significance in this, so Im assuming its for a big man. Its obviously not Channing Frye, and doubt it would be for Amare, unless it was Bayless, Aldridge, and Przybilla for Amare and Clark (something I doubt either team would do right now at this point in their seasons).
So Bayless for Clark, Amundsun, or Lopez are the only options I see. I doubt the Blazers make any of those moves, especially after Bayless started showing what he has lately, along with the fact that he is quickly becoming a crowd favorite.
Can you say who the player from the Suns was? Was it a bigger package? Or just a 1 for 1 swap?

Re: Blazers need size.
Bayless is a decent prospect who has played well lately, but he is a 6'3'' 200 lbs shooting guard. The Suns already have Barbosa who is a bigger player who does the same things. While I am a fan of Bayless I don't think I'd want the Suns to trade Lou or EC for him just yet. EC is still unproven with potential and Lou is becoming very important to this team. Although clearly Bayless is worth a ton more then Lou it makes the Suns a worse team and I want them to make some moves and try to win now!
As for Lopez, I'd move him for any big man who can rebound and defend while still running the floor. I'd also trade him for ANY kind of upgrade in prospect, even if it was just for future trading purposes.

+1
Then we can trade J-Rich for pretty much anything and I wouldn't care.
Probably gonna have to be a three team trade somewhere.

Re: Blazers need size.
I appreciate all the feedback, but this thread has gotten slightly out of hand in terms of offers coming from the Blazers. I am certain neither Bayless nor Rudy will be traded for an 11th man with good size.
If Bayless/Rudy makes more sense in a Lopez package to you Suns fans than Cunningham/Mills, I guess I probably underestimated Lopez's value. I know we're not trading any budding lottery picks or Spanish superstars for 2 points and 2 boards.
I did see another idea a few posts back that is worth exploring, and that's Blake for Lopez. I think another 1.5M or so would have to come from Phoenix to make the deal work, and I know Earl Clark is probably worth more as a prospect than his salary dictates, so it's a tricky deal to make work.
Blake and a pick for Lopez and a filler might be a win/win.

Re: Blazers need size.
I can't imagine Bayless going anywhere right now. We still don't know what we have in him. He's not a pure point, but his combo-ness should work well with Roy.
As much as Rudy is beloved here, a swap for Lopez does make a lot of sense. However it would be a tough sell to much of the fanbase. Rudy is a bit of a cult hero here.
Why do youball want Richardson gone?
