This is insane

Post#1 » by MaryvalesFinest » Sun Dec 27, 2009 7:31 am

The Suns got off to a 14-3 start which was great but now reality has set in and their at 5-9 so far this month. Some of you may think 19-12 is a good record and they can make the playoffs but guys seriously look at the next two games, if they lose those they will be at 19-14 and could easily end up below .500 next month.

Two more years of barely squeaking in the playoffs? Two more years of maybe not even making the playoffs? I don't get managements goal at all. All of the major contending teams that are older have a chance to win the championship, the younger contending teams are in the same spot as the Suns but they have young talent and are building for the future and the rebuilding teams are collecting all this young talent.

Lopez and Clark are racking up DNP's, Dragic can't run an offense on an NBA level, Amare is either going to leave, be traded or who knows and management is letting him hang their and they are relying on a 35-36 point guard as the number one option when he would be the second or third on any contending team?

What's exactly managements goal for this team? To barely get in the playoffs? For the players to pad stats? I don't get it...

The goal I think is to cut costs and pray.

Amare + filer for Scola + T-Mac. Then trade J-Rich for expiring deals and Lopez to Portland for Martell Webster and boom we have ourselves a ball team.

That's the confusing thing, they had plenty of chances to trade Amare for young talent which they could have cut costs and they haven't done it yet while they have no intention on giving him the max option...just a crazy situation

Or J-Rich could even be the filler in that Amare deal, probably not the most they can get for him but if they know Amare is going to walk anyway that would be solid.

We need to do something! Maybe not with Houston but we need a replacement for J-Rich at SG. My ideal choice would be Webster or Rudy from Portland for Lopez. Trade J-Rich for expiring deals then get someone else with the saved $. I dunno what to do with Amare. If we can get him for less-than-Max then do it i guess.......

I think the plan is,.. If Amare insist on the max. which we obviously will not give, we can always do a S&T with whatever team that has capspace(they can sign FA for us). So, we will at least be gettin' back something decent out of this FA class, maybe plus few future 1st round pick. :D

Amare is unrestricted, so if he opts out that means he can go and sign with any team, the reason it worked with JJ was because he was a restricted FA

The reason that S&T might work is that we are the "ONLY" team that could give him the maximum of the max contract lol, in terms of length and annual salary increase (if I'm not mistaken) :)

What his max salary would be no one can determine because the first year salary of an extension cannot exceed the maximum salary allowed. The new CBA in 2011 would effect how much his MAX salary can be. It would no doubt be lower than what it is now.

The best option is to just extend him because that would open more trade opportunities.

A couple of weeks ago there was a thread discussing possible trades with Houston:
Landry/Battier/Mac/1st for Richardson/Amare
or
Scola/Battier/Mac/1st for Richardson/Amare
or
Scola/Ariza/McGrady for Amare/Richardson

As for a S&T, the chance of getting anything good in return is pretty low. We'd most likely be stuck S&T for low value or, if we refuse, Amare still signs with whatever team willing to pay him the max they can offer.

I doubt NY manages to clear all the space they need for two max FA's and if Bron goes there theyll want a second star and pnr buddy for brony

Amare gets sign and traded for Lee+filler(jefferies?)

its my best guess and i hope it happens

What's exactly managements goal for this team? To barely get in the playoffs? For the players to pad stats? I don't get it...

I think the goal was to win it all a few yrs back... we had surprising success with Nash, Johnson, Q, Marion, Stat... then over the next couple of yrs, just could not make the right additions and catch the right breaks... Sarver got frustrated, partially due to his 'early success' spoil-ation... and went into cost cut mode. Thats where we are now, after one half-assed-get-Shaq attempt to sneak a play off run in. I am not so sure we would be any better or worse with him right now...(or BenWallace for that matter)

I do not know what they have planned.... but for all those who 'claim' they like watching this fun and gun, style of basketball, well.... to me, it is as equally frustrating and disappointing as it is entertaining.

I do not think you can build a contending team around Nash w/o a defensive presence in the paint, a defensive 2, and strong PG back up.

And I am beginning to adopt the thought that really, we have no other true option to improve that does not involve Amare's imminent departure. I do not see how we can go forward with any hopes other than squeaking into the playoffs for a how-do-you-do, nice-to-see-you, bye-bye appearance. (and I think we can do that w or w/o Stat)

i don´t think j.rich is the problem. the problem is that frye is no real center. he can´t defend.
the problem is that steve nash always seems to make the WRONG decisions when it counts. you can have a good chemistry on youre team but you also have to have a mofu who don´t gives a crap about chemistry and who tells you what he thinks. we need to stop caring about our team chemistry we should start caring about winning. the other problem is that we can´t even stop the grizzlies scoring 150 points on us. we have plenty of problems.
and if robert saver don´t want to spend some money than sell this franchise. it´s as easy as that.
i had some days off here in germany and still got up at 5.00 at the morning, for what ??
i love the suns, i love nash and everyone in here - but its realy getting frustrating

Props to the great one

Well, if this is true then I think their will be an atomic bomb at the trade deadline this year. There is no way they keep this team together if they are headed for missing the playoffs again.

I think Richardson's inconsistency is a huge problem. When he's on, he's a major contributer, but when he's off, he really hurts us. I appreciate that he always goes after it on the glass, but I'd much rather have someone who is more steadily productive.

We have no fillers though that make JRich for T-Mac work. McGrady makes 22 million dollars so it's hard for any trade to be worked out.

If we wanted Chandler I think we would have traded Wallace for him, but since he wasn't(and isn't) healthy, I don't think well go that route. Diaw+Gerald Wallace would be a steal.
