Can Kerr dump J-Rich by Mid Feb?

Post#1 » by DirtyDez » Tue Dec 29, 2009 5:48 am

I'm not blaming him for any of our losses but it's clear we play better when he sits. In December he's averaging 13 ppg, 26% from 3 and an overall 41% from the field - Second worse FG% only to Earl Clark on the whole team. Right now Dragic and LB are better options with the way J-Rich is currently playing.

If we make the playoffs we need someone with perimeter D, this team without J-Rich has plenty of fiepower to score. I'd take any of these low-paid players over him at this point - Dahntay Jones, Aaron Afflalo, John Salmons, Charlie Bell, Raja Bell, Larry Hughes, Kirk Hinrich, Udoka, Martell Webster, Mo Evans, Kyle Korve, Michael Finley, Ricky Davis. Few of them have big contract's this year but are FA's next season.

J-Rich makes 13+ mil a year until 2011. He's hurting our team and payroll. Dunno if Kerr could deal him for expiring contracts or an actual trade of players. Hard to imagine someone taking on that contract in this economy.

Or do we just ride it out and gradually decrease his playing time while LB and Dragic continue to improve?

here is an idea, see what everyone thinks...

Q-rich + James Jones

for

J-Rich + T-griff (or tucker)

we would get two former suns back who know how the system works and can thrive in it. Heat get J-rich who would probably actually work really well next to Wade who could move to PG since Chalmers is sucking as a starter. I really don't see any other options that would help both teams. This deal I would take in a second.

Like someone said in the other thread

Jrich + LB
for
TMAC

look what Aaron nelson has done for Grant and Amare, look at shaq, well not this season but they revived him last year

we can gain ALOT by acquiring Tmac

the potential of ALL that free capspace next season, we could go after either Joe johnson or maybe d wade

Would love that but... I believe the reason Quentin was traded to the Heat was because him and Wade are really good friends.
I also don't think the Heat want to take on his salary for next year when they have a few expirings this off-season so they can land a big name free agent or two.

T-Mac is a cancer.
There are some things Aaron Nelson can't do, like take T-Mac to the second round of the playoffs.

we're stuck with him... we just gotta hope he will start to pony up. Hopefully Gentry will start Barbosa or Dudley over him for the next few games so he gets the point and actually starts producing.

Yeah i'm thinking that's the case. Maybe we'll be like Denver where they start Afflalo but J.R. Smith gets more time and finishes games which LB or Dragic could do for us at SG.

I'd do JRich/LB/Lou for Ellis/Turiaf/Morrow.

Almost every team in the league would listen to offers for LB. He's instant bench offense with a great contract. But he's so valuable to our team. Tough call.

Several trades.
Suns trade
Jason Richardson
Milwaukee trade
Luke Ridnour
Dan Gazduric

Simply put, it's addiction by subtraction.

Suns trade
Jason Richardson
Chicago trades
Kirk Hinrich
Jannero Pargo

I like the Suns playing two point guards/combo guards. Not much use in Pargo, just so the trade works financially. I don't really like that the Suns would be without a true shooting guard for the next couple of years.

Suns trade
Jason Richardson
Detroit trade
Richard Hamilton

FTW. Nuff said.

Q was more of a chucker with us than Rich is right now, but my overwhelming sense of nostalgia wants both of them back!

I see absolutely nobody wanting J-Rich where we get anything in return. End of next season we either let him walk or trade his expiring for something. I'm up for something like him for Elton Brand + Speights. Brand would have 2 atrocious years left on his terrible contract that we could buy out and hopefully cut costs just a little bit. Speights is being a monster this season. He's easily outscoring every big that gets about as many as he does and he's rebounding at about the same rate. Frye + Amare + Speights with some Lou on the side sounds like a pretty dynamic front court. Despite RoLo's good showing tonight, I just think Speights is gonna be far more consistent in every way. Only 1 problem here.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

And Philly parting with their entire frontcourt... Unless they draft Derrick Favors!

I hope so. He's my least favorite player by far on this team. He did a few things right tonight but had so many mental errors like he always does.

i don“t understand why he is hated so much. i think he plays decent defense, can score on anybody. we should start dudley over grandpa hill. he is more of an outside shooter with great hustle plays.

i would take j-rich over hinrich and all the other scrubs on every single day.

Props to the great one

I however would take Evan Turner over J-Rich any day...

When do contracts expire? After the season is over is a contract considered expired or does that person get paid until the end of the free-agent season? I need wisdom. Please impart said wisdom

This is probably too far fetched but I would love if it would happen...

Suns get:

Baron Davis + Brian Skinner

Clips get:

Gilbert Arenas

Wizards get:

Jason Richardson

Suns do it because Nash and Davis are good friends and what would be a siiiiick back court combo that could switch roles at PG/SG with each other. We also get Skinner back to give us more depth in the front court.

Wiz do it to get out from Arenas' contract. Not sure there is much else that appeals to them. They could use J-rich's expiring next year as a trading chip.

Clips might do it to get a a little bit younger and keep a hometown star on the team.
